It was always meant to be Derry. Trish didn’t see what was down there, Derry did and that ignited his fear. The creeper was smelling the laundry to match the scent to the one he found in his lair. Plus Trish was willing to sacrifice herself showing she wasn’t afraid as opposed to Derry. So in my opinion, it was always meant to be Derry.

Just a theory..the creeper probably does that to a lot of ppl but I feel like if the chase genuinely frightened Darry, he wouldn't have been curious enough to go down in the sewer. So what if when the Creeper returned, that was when he got that whiff of Darry's fear and that's what he was basically tracking the rest of the film? Him sniffing his underwear at the gas station and such. It also could explain why when he sniffed them both at the police station, he YEETED trish aside--because that wasn't the fear he smelled in his house of pain that he was fiending for

​@@WillowZaya my theory is, which can be inaccurate.. is that he wasn't too bothered with them until they made themselves too involved. Going in the basement only made matters worse add to the fact during every chase I'm sure it kept feeding his hunger/scent even more due to being scared at every encounter and it wasn't until he got up close and personal did he differentiate who of the two it belonged to. Trish was scared too probably just as much at certain times

if you notice in the beginning trish is biting her glasses which hints that her eyesight isn’t the best. the creeper ended up taking darry’s eyes which i think is because he saw things he shouldn’t have and because his eyes were better suited being as though trish wore glasses.

But when I watched it again nearly 20 years later I found that, like in a lot of horror movies, the stupidity and unrealistic decisions of the main characters takes me out of the horror and just makes me frustrated. Has anyone ever noticed that once Darry and Trish went to the diner, Giselle called asking if they seen the cats yet? They go to the old lady's house and she didn't want them calling the cops to her house because they tell her how many cats she can have. She puts emphasis on "cats". You can see the realization on Darrys' face when she's talking about the cats because they got a call at the diner earlier in the movie from Giselle warning them about the cats. He finally knew what the phone call was about regarding the cats because he tells Trisha that they have to leave after talking to the lady. I've always looved that detail in this movie

Actually he abused his wife who was actively separated from him and he kept trying to control her life, eventually taking it. He beat her brutally in front of their children who ran for help. I always credited this movie for introducing me to Siouxsie and the Banshees, though indirectly. I saw this movie when I was 11 when my mama bought the DVD. I remember geeking out over a cover of their song Peek-a-Boo in one scene. At that time there was limewire, kazaa, imesh, etc. I was searching for the cover to download, but the original was the only one available. When I downloaded and listened to the original, I was immediately hooked and sought after their other stuff. I'm still a fan of Siouxsie and the Banshees and I have this movie to thank.

Quick fun fact - besides the fear factor, pretty sure the Creeper chose Darry as there's a scene at the beginning of the movie while in the car, you can see Trish with a pair of glasses in her hand (the scene is actually in your video at 16:28). The creeper was gonna take Darry regardless, because his old eyes were going bad, and he was essentially going blind. 15:03 you can see while he’s holding him that his eyes are fading and he didn’t take Trish because at the beginning of the movie You could see she had a pair of glasses. An Darry was making jokes about her vision. Darry’s fear was still a major part of it tho.

This how I feel if Darry & Trish never went back to the church ..Darry wouldn’t have cut his hand from sliding down the tunnel leaving behind his scent(BLOOD) secondly if they wouldn’t have stopped at the diner the creeper wouldn’t been able to track down the scent & get to his laundry to smell more of it to know who it wants .. that’s why jezelle said “i thought you could change it” 14:06

He chose the brother because his eyesight was better than the sister. If ya pay attention in the beginning, you can see that Trish is trying to read with glasses, indicating her eyesight was poorer. The Creeper uses fear to sniff out what part of you he can eat so he can replenish what parts of him deteriorated while he slept for 23 years.

One point is once JC had Darry scent it didnt matter how far away they got, he would be hunted until JC got what he wanted or needed. This is when the movie brings together the understandable and the stupid together. Yea the understandable would be to mash out as far away as they can, the stupid is no matter how far Darry would get The Creeper would eventually find him because of the Scent pickup.

Jeepers Creepers was my favorite horror movie growing up, I'll never forget that final scene with Darry's eye-less face. A classic! I did not know it was based on a real murder/attempted murder case. This review was great, I forgot how stupid they was LMAO and I love your voice

Once I saw that pic, I HAD to look away. That picture wasn't just creepy, it was downright scary. And honestly, the kids gave me more of a fright than the monster! They had me screaming at the screen - especially the scene with the cat lady. How many times do you have to STOP RUNNING TO SAFETY, just to TURN AROUND and WATCH WHAT HAPPENS?! You don't need to watch to know that the cat lady is not going to win against the supernatural creature!

They were good on the road. Darry wasnt scared at all on the road. More annoyed than anything. Even when they saw the Creeper putting bodies down the drain, Darry still wasn’t scared. Until… Until Darry went down into the drain is where Darry got extremely scarred. People forget that there was an urban legend about a couple missing and here they were in the drain. That scared him to the core. That fear the Creeper felt is what led to what you were saying. He was gonna die no matter what

No lie this movie had the main characters on some goofy moves but overall was a solid Horror movie with a chance at exploring a interesting lore of the Creeper and a storyline that could have pushed out a solid 3-4 movies. Victor Salva really kamikazeed this franchise over his bullshit and JC will only be good for the first two movies. The last one had the Creeper doing the Mutombo "No,No,No" finger wag, after seeing that I knew this shit was done bro.

I believe the moment that Creeper wanted to check on who he wants to pick was when he was ramming their car. He wants to sense whoever someone can be prey by how scared they are. Trish was angry at first then even got more pissed the second try while Derry while angry too but panicked and got scared during the 2nd time and amplified it more when he went down that cave.
