In Sydney Australia it was a effort to find these, but finally got my hands on them and love them. my colony has now bred several times so I will be looking to spread these little gems out for others to enjoy as much as i do. Great Video thanks

Word of advice learned from my own mistakes: don’t put lelupi/cylidricus with these fish even in large tanks. They have sharp teeth and will rip the smaller female similis from their shells and kill them. This applies to multis, brevis and ocellatus too. Great video video btw 👍🏼

I saw a dispute in one of my tanks that ended with the male multi on my floor in the morning, he jumped out of the tank but I did notice the bullying from the others the day before and how he was being "excluded" from the pack, and didnt think it would go that far, not knowing how aggressive they can be.

A little surprised by that. I found similis to fairly peaceful. I could some of the other Shellie’s.

@@FishTankBarn Yeah man, it was just a personality thing between fish, nothing to do about it. I have a few hundred by now and haven't seen it happen ever again. I also noticed in a small 55 gallon my pigmy corys that exploded in popullation and I cant get them out easily, they can display social isolation or disputes towards some of their own and if there is no room for them to escape they can suffer fin nipping. My aquarium often looks empty because of a huge wall I build they can hide behind but I have probably 200 by now. It looks magical when they come out and swim all together, but I would have to tear down my aquarium to take them out so I figured "more food for my shrimp and snails" lol. No idea if there is a way I can lure them into something! 😅

Thanks Mike! I have a 40 breeder with 6 adult Multies. They were bought quite young and it turned out to be 5 males and one female. I’ve seen probably 3-4 spawns in the last year, but fry survival has been non-existent. I started feeding crushed flakes and now switched frozen baby brine. They spawns star around 7 and slowly dwindled. Have you had any issues or have thoughts on what might be going on?

I would maybe try adding more shells or try something like a powdered food liked unmixed rapajy or the coop fry food.

Do you think these fish would be fine with plants that can be anchored to rocks like java moss, java fern, or anubias? I'm thinking about setting up my old 20 gallon tank for these guys after seeing them at my local store because they just seem so awesome and my local tap water is already perfect in terms of ph and hardness.
@FishTankBarn2 жыл бұрын
You might be able to get away with it since they won’t dig them out of the rocks.

be careful with the bristle nose with these shells as they can get stuck and die so if you have them keep the larger bn
