I am still in high school, watching this in the middle of recess, and school teaches me a lot of things, but it's NOTHING when compared to this. Most of my answers written in my biology tests are based on what I've learnt from scishow and the links to the info they put in the description, and while they are correct, they are also very long, like, essay long, and the teacher needs to research my answer to see if it is correct, so my marks are just deducted from making my answer too long and complicated.

I want to see a big hairy elephant! And while they're at it, they should re-create other creatures too. Supposedly, it's very easy to clone a human, make minor adjustments to the DNA, and the result is an ancient ape-man. Now that would be a sight to behold.

Hands down, no contest, velvet ants (we call em Cow killers round here) are the most painful sting/bite/ attack I have ever experienced. And I've been stung, bitten, and attacked by many a critter lmao Honestly, I've stepped on nails, broken my collar bone, had my foot crushed ect. And the sting from those things, in the few minutes it does hurt, is incredibly intense. Braking a bone is a dull pain over a long period of time, getting stung by a velvet ant is an unrelenting flood of absolute agony, so much so that when it does start to subside you'll litteraly get lightheaded and feel high >.

Just a heads up: I have seen many scientific documents stating that tardigrades are NOT extremophiles. Sure, they can survive extreme environments, but that wasn’t their intention. As Hipster Hank said, they just chill in the water sucking up moss. An extremophile was specifically designed to survive such inhospitable environments. That is their argument, I suppose. A word that one of these papers used which I quite like is extremotolerant. Perhaps it is better suited for the water bears?

@X-35173

As a video editor I can say that it's much easier to lower volume than raise it (I mean input wise it's the same, but raising volume has more limits while anything can be reduced to mute) I agree with the volume thing, and in a video like this it shouldn't be a difficult fix.

The Bdelloid Rotifer story is a baseline to the mutant-monster-creating microscopic organism in the extremely good book and movie RELIC: An organism that can absorb and rebuild selected DNA and use it to modify the entire physical structure of an organism that it infects to match, for an increased ability to defend itself, with "a good offense is the best defense" being a big part of the DNA it selects. A little like the monster in the recent version of the movie THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD, but more single-purpose specialist in its function.

5 double commercials in a 23 minute video, that's insane scishow! But my actual question is, does scishow as a channel know what companies are advertising in their videos? Because there are some siriouslu questionable ones in between there (think in the area of obvious scams). Or does KZbin pick the advertisers?
@angelitabecerra
@angelitabecerra 4 жыл бұрын
KZbin picks the advertisements. The channels only have control of which sponsors they take.
@traditionalnative
@traditionalnative 2 жыл бұрын
unfortunately KZbin entirely controls the ads that occur, from content to frequency. I will get the same scam ad on a dozen different channels. the ads are tailored by KZbin for you based off of your Google search history and how much you engage with an ad (how long you watch it). It's not uncommon for me to get ads that directly conflict with the title and content of the video because of the keywords - i.e. watching a documentary about abuse in scientology, then in the middle getting ads /for/ converting to scientology, just because the same word occurs, and the algorithm takes the biggest keyword, not context. so to make sure I'm clear about what I'm saying because I'm translating - no, no creators can even see what ads occur on their videos, as ads are targeted for each account by KZbin. people watching the same video in the same room on two different accounts will get different ads. the only thing they can control about advertising on their videos is choosing sponsors.

I'm also a dropout after 5 years of attempts! However, regardless of the nuances of whatever I failed to understand, I also know, that in the 30 years I've been away from a secondary education through university, many of the natural and social sciences I studied have evolved, and old theories have been challenged, modified or replaced altogether! Such is the nature of the scientific beasts; but that never made me believe that the principles behind science and the scientific method was ever in doubt.
