Agreed. As a solo, the plates are useless because of the shock. 😢 If i get shot by a tundra or mosin whilst wearing a field vest, i can still move. Sure i am red health but i can still react. Plates are dead weight for solos.

Higher damage/shock is preferable as a solo player, because with enough precision and good positioning, doing everything right will win you fights against squads. Servers where players are tanky, only favor squads because the solo player can't dedicate his time focusing on finishing just that one guy out of 4+. Essentially, longer TTK is more forgiving for squads that lack skill.

@@Reth_Hard It absolutely doesn't favor squads. It's literally like Tope said, you have to wish that you hit every shot, and your enemies don't hit any, if you can one shot drop some of them unconscious, every bullet you shoot, can tip over the scale in your favor.

I do 100% agree with what Topito is saying in the shock damage/health department. What I will say is that the unlimited stamina mechanic that some servers put on completely ruins one aspect of the hardcore gameplay that I love in DayZ. If you wanna be a juggernaut with a plate carrier, helmet, grenades, and 2-3 long guns, then you should be penalized in the mobility department. This also gives fresh spawns a chance at running away from uber-geared players since they are carrying much less.

Echoing the stamina thoughts. Some servers mod top-tier armor that hinders movement to compensate, but it still feels off.

Yeah dayz on console is fucking littered with servers that are keyboard compatible, have infinite stamina, are in third person, has super boosted loot, or has some combination of those. Any server that is decently good decides they need to whitelist or password the server making it difficult to get into, or they regularly have 5-10 person queues with many servers like that selling priority queue, meaning you can sit in queue for an hour before getting to play. I say allot of the problems with dayz come with the community running the server, as official servers have always been fun to me if a bit bland without any traders or points of interest to travel to.

The only issue I've had with the stamina mechanic is that even being somewhat geared, like mid tier shit, with all the running you have to do in game, it takes FOREVER and just isn't fun trying to get anywhere. Just makes the game a little painful when it comes to getting around, in combat though the stamina system is definitely much better

To me it makes absolute sense. If you're a lonewolf and you try to play the badass who takes on an entire group, then you gotta be ready to die. I don't think I have ever seen anyone run from groups. Ever single time they just either fight them head on, or back off and then have a go from there. Taking on a group completely alone should be a death sentence with a slim chance you'll win. You shouldn't be able to play the hollywood action movie hero who saves the day by taking out an entire squad with ease. That should be a privilege to those who know how to have a good chance at taking them down alone.

Since adrenaline is a hell of a drug, they should definitely overhaul the shock system. Imagine if bullet wounds in non vital areas just made your character all shaky and shit with the shock effect as you're trying to push through and take out your enemy, but major knocks to the head and explosives still easily knock you out. It would make for a nice change in pvp.

To be honest, there have been times when I've been running with a buddy, been knocked uncon by zombies and my buddy has saved me from bleeding out. I think that was the whole point of uncon - it assists the DayZ vision of assisting each other rather than going alone.

I’ve been saying this to people for a while now. You can hop on to any other shooter like Fortnite or Cod and drop a bunch of kills every game. But for DayZ, most people get their first kill after 20+ hours of gameplay (maybe even longer). It’s not easy and I think your with all your positioning, awareness, and accuracy, it shows how much skill you need to actually survive and stand your ground. I almost have 300 hours on DayZ now and I’m nowhere near your level lol. I salute you man.

In regards to Squads: Survival as a group is far easier than solo survival. You can carry/find/scavange at a much higher rate, meaning that squads always have the advantage in gear. I do not mind as this is just matter of fact. Solo will always be harder, but balancing between solo/groups will always be swingy, as gear+skill+group number will always differ wildly. Shock mechanics: This is a tough one. DayZ at it's core is based on a solo adventure, perhaps as a duo. When groups get into 3+ territory shock mechanics directly work against solo's. Unfortunately it's something that can't be adjusted too much as it would trivialise a mechanic or make it a game crippling feature. Same for leg breaks. It's a difficult question to answer, and no one single solution would satisfy all parties.

I also happen to think that DayZ is heading in the direction where friends are required, in terms of loot that is. Livonia's new bunker requires at least a duo to loot the place fully. Getting to Lantia on Namalsk, which technically can be done solo, is intended for cooperation as well. I think this is a good thing because I think DayZ is at its best when played with other people. As far as pvp goes, I guess in any game a squad will be at an advantage. But in DayZ, squads should be fought smartly or avoided.

You can do the bunker solo. Once you're done looting up and you're "trapped". Just log out, log into a different server and bam, you're out with the gear.

I agree the best way to deal with a squad is to avoid them entirely. I do enjoy the fact that DayZ is encouraging people to play together, as the game feels extremely lonely and harrowing as a solo player. Theres never enough REASON to interact with people in the game. The stuff they're carrying and the entertaiment of the gunfight outweighs the value of making a new ally, and thats because theres nothing to do with other people except walk around together and split gear till one person gets popped in the head leaving the other stranded and feeling more lonely than when they started their journey. Days NEEDS more stuff like the bunker, we need something to physically go out and do with friends instead of rushing NWAF and camping out base.

I Think you are correct about the shock damage etc. given the scenario presented in the video you should be losing the majority of engagements like that regardless, Unless the squad is horrible which is entirely possible.Again super fun clip to watch thank you.

Best PvP experience I have ever had gaming. No radar, no fucking hit markers, no slide cancel, bullet drop, real range advantages and disadvantages, sub machine guns don’t run the gun play, spotting can be tough, ghillies really work, etc not to mention the actual gratification you get from cleaning a group up as a solo or duo is instantly rewarded with good loot. the PvP is perfection. Coming from a console player.

Bro I agree with you 100%…. The uncon is pointless I think. They did it to promote ingame interactions but instead it just makes the gun fights end quicker. Especially as a solo against squads. I fucking hate squads in dayZ 😅you played it good tho bro. Keep up the epic content 👊🏻💪🏻

I personally enjoy the uncon mechanic as it makes the game feel more realistic. Personally i think if youre running up on 4-5 person squads as a solo and getting mad about losing the gunfight, well then thats a personal issue 😂. Some people think their skill level is so high above everyone else's that they just deserve the win every time. If you see a squad avoiding them is probably the best option unless you have a super advantageous position and gear to take them on. If avoiding them just isnt possible like they just randomly rolled up on you then thats part of the hardcore survival aspect i feel like. Sometimes you just get fucked, as much as i would love Dayz devs to balance the game to make it easier for solos i cant see it being possible without the changes also benefiting squads. In a fight where youre outnumbered, youre always likely to lose and i think more people need to realise that than trying to simply blame it on the game design

combat definitely seemed more nuanced before they reintroduced leg breaking and re-adjusted the armor and shock values so that on vanilla servers you just get KO'd in every fight. there's no counterplay to laying on the ground for 20 seconds with a black screen, so you just have to land the first hit on someone and not really care much about aiming well or killing them with that shot. just connect with something and they're too crippled by it to fight back. I feel it's also why we also get so many fresh spawns now who dont value their characters life at all and sprint at fully armed survivors hoping to stunlock and punch them uncon. There should not be automatic win conditions that are so easily achieved if we want the combat to last more than a couple seconds and be of high quality

Just trapped myself a few hours ago since the tent I wanted to place wasn’t placed correctly by the game. Don’t know why, but once placed i literally trapped myself. A friend of mine logged on and saved me and the tent. Cars are a pain in the ass as of right now. They get damaged despite them not being pushed to its limits. Ada still very Fragile even when „speeding“ at 1 mile an hour. Lost my controller connection on Xbox yesterday and died, because my character ran off the fucking apartment (there seems to be no system in place to stop input while disconnected) building. Switched to PC after that for a deathmatch session 😂

GWOT-EM veteran with multiple deployments here: People need to understand first, what kind of game DayZ is and what the Devs are trying to deliver (or what the server is trying to achieve) I think we can all agree the game is not meant to be easy. We hear words like "camping" be thrown around, but that ideology is a by-product of the Call of Duty era... DayZ is a survival game.. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="281">4:41</a> is a perfect example of treating your in-game life with value and taking the time to quickly access the current situation and make the right play. I agree, tactically 'holding' that hallway was really the only option in that scenario. The "problem" I see is that people want DayZ to be something it's not.. ie. more like "insert other FPSer here" - but it's not those games, its DayZ. I see DayZ as more of a "casual" simulation.. meaning a lot goes into portraying realism and immersion. Most players aren't going to spend 30 minutes observing/hunting a squad to wait for that PERFECT headshot with a bottle suppressed tundra to "thin the herd" so to speak (even though it's VERY satisfying). I get it that we all have different schedules, or we may want to play the game differently at times, but that is why the community servers are great. You can literally find any play style/difficulty you want. I personally really like/appreciate that there is a chance I get knocked uncon instead of dying instantly. It keeps the game feeling fresh and not scripted like a lot of other games are. This is where self-discipline and situational awareness, in regard to things like always creating distance between your enemy/yourself and ensuring that if you were to fall uncon, comes in handy. If you're in a place like a locked room or in tall grass, it allows you time to get re-orientated and get back in the fight, even if it's just to hold an angle. While I don't miss the politics/red tape, I do miss my job in the military and the adrenaline that came from these types of real-life situations, but the body doesn't stay young forever and now I can get close to that same adrenaline virtually, without all the back and knee pain slowing me down and that's all thanks to games like DayZ. It really has something for everyone, especially the hardcore shooters/survivalist. Great video and thanks for what you do for the DayZ community. Same Opinion here though I need to say that I got that feeling since DayZs launch. Groups always have the advantage in terms of possible gear they can carry. They can help each other, can share loot, share information etc. „Flanking and terrorizing“ a squad is crucial. I can’t do the same as a squad so I play in my advantage of course. Had a firefight two days ago. A group of 3 looted Nadbor and I heard gunshots. I went to Nadbor and made sure where exactly they were. I saw 2. They were about to leave the military base there and I was up close on the other side of the fence. I had my Bizon equipped to i thought that spray and pray, causing terror would help in that case since I was so close to them and they were clearly not paying that much attention to the surroundings. I opened fire on the first guy: Unconscious. Immediately switched to guy number 2 since I had a few moments before guy number 1 wakes up. Guy 2 went unconscious too after missing his shots. Finished guy 1, wanted to finish guy 2. guy 3 opened fire from a position I couldn’t locate directly and I was in an unfavorable position to say the least (on the street with no cover) and tactically relocated myself to the west of Nadbor where the crashed and ruined cars are. From there I could see most of the street and guy 1 number 1. Guy number 2 recovered health in a bush near guy number 2. I spotted him, missed my first shot of course. He then run into cover, but I could still see just a fraction of his helmet. I made it. I hit him. Dead. Again, I relocated myself to avoid getting killed. Guy number 3 made sure he was hiding. It was an 3pp server after all so I decided to quit the firefight after an hour of not spotting him and went back to my base. No loot gained due to the 3th guy who was probably camping his mates, but at least we had a nice gunfight. This could have turned out very differently as we know. It’s DayZ after all. DayZ however is still unique af. Tarkov and similar games ppl consider hardcore are awesome, but gearing up, loosing it and ending up with a fishing rod on the coast or river stream after I died is soooo iconic. I love it.

As a loyal Hunt Showdown player, I can say it's one of the hardest games I've ever played. Especially as a solo. But, as you said, in DayZ you do not have the ability to heal yourself right away. Plus, in Hunt, the most you will fight on a team is 3. Hunt and DayZ are definitely the two hardest PVP games I've ever played. Nice video, Topito.

No matter how you chalk it up 1 person fighting multiple people should be hard. I would like dayZ to be even more hardcore. I think all bullets have way to little of an affect on your characters mobility and ability to function. So surviving an attack would have a slim chance but if you did the pay off would be incredible

no other game makes me feel the adrenaline and nervousness dayz makes me feel, i am genuinely scared to move to take action because i know one small move or mistake can cost me my life, and if a group of players gang up on me, i take my time picking them apart and seeing the last guys nerves get to them is just a rush unlike any other. the anger you feel when you die the frustration its all so close to being real, whenever you try to communicate with friends and just lash at them because you dont want to die, to me its the closet i will ever get to real combat and thats why i love dayz. no other game hits as hard in pvp only maybe like search and destroy on cod but thats about it tbh i cant think of any other

Yesterday i took out a 4 man squad with 5 tundra shots and 9 m16 bullets it was a quick element of surprise and good shots got me the best gaming moment of my life thanks to that. And all lasted about a minute. DayZ is hands down my favorite game and i discovered it about 500-600 hours ago

dope video! good tactics as solo, shoot and move, any step you hear is enemy and it makes it easyer then thinking is this your teammate! As for about plates! Ofcourse, realisticly would be if you have plate or presvest you tank 1 shot without uncon and 2 with uncon depending from caliber! As what is the point from plates if they dont do the job? :D Sometimes we call it freshie armor, as seen players with no plates or armor tank more shots then fully geared guy! Dayz still have many things to fix :D

I think it migth be because of the hitboxes where legs and arms recieve much less damage. Also sometimes your hits migth register on legs and arms when players are running due sync issues lag etc.

As a vanilla solo player I rarely even bother with the plate carrier because I go uncon so easy and if I'm 1 shot anyway rather have the stamina

I personally think you should avoid squads if youre not absolutely sure of your ability to take them on. In the case its unavoidable i feel like your best bet is to either hide or run for the hills. If you initate a gunfight with 5 different people then get mad or upset about losing that gunfight, i feel like thats similar to kicking a hornets nest then getting mad about the hornets coming out to sting you. Also i feel like Dayz puposefully encourages playing with friends and factions, the bunker in livonia being added recently being a perfect example of them rewarding cooperative play but not nessecarily punishing solo players. I personally prefer this, as currently when i see people in DayZ i feel i can get much more out of those people by initating a gunfight and taking their stuff rather than attempting to talk to them and make an ally. Basically survivors in DayZ are worth more dead than alive. Not to mention for allot of socially awkward people shooting is just easier than talking, giving people a reason to break out of their shell (like wanting to get the good bunker loot) finally gives players a reason to possibly interact with people other than places like the coast. I love DayZ i really do, and i think that rewarding cooperative play is a good thing, though it shouldnt be too rewarding. I love seeing squads doing runs together in DayZ and my preferred way to play has always been with a friend, even if its one i just met on the coast.

I do agree that avoiding squads when outnumbered and outgeared is the right decision but what about a situation where the squads spots You first and youre not aware of them? Im a little reckless and I know I could make better decisions in this video but after 15k hours I just try to still find the adrenaline rush 😀

As a solo player you might consider always carrying the essentials Sticks and Rags, they are too useful to ignore.

I like the idea of the PC tanking 1 shot ,and maybe ha e extremely high shock with broken leg unable to run so even the slightest bump knocks you out but t least you have a chance to get out of danger

Well, you are correct as always. Being a solo player and fighting squads is a really difficult situation but IN MY OPNION thats one of the things that brings realism to dayz (In real fights one person will have trouble fighting multiple targets) although I guess the point you brought here was the caliber damage against the protection (not sure if thats MAIN point here you brought a lot of content) I guess I can say dayz PVPs at the moment are well balanced (in vanilla-like servers) we also need to think about the realism they want to bring into the game but also its a game and its really hard to make playes play your game when you get a 300m shot and dies instantly. Im not saying you are wrong bringing the discussion about how hard is to a solo player to kill a entire squad but I guess It makes sense if youre bohemia and want to bring to your game both realism and fun Nice video Tope keep it up!

Im about to re install dayz and I remember what kinda puts me off the game now when you gotta hit someone 3 times with .308 to take them down and if they are 3 and you are 1 in that case, no chance.

Apart from that it's a great video, I agree with you that it's the most complicated game in terms of fight. The fact that life doesn't come back in 5 seconds, that you can get your legs broken, that a single bullet can be decisive for your future survival, makes the game very hard, but that's what makes us love the game haha
