The Dread Masters are basically Star Wars's version of the Black Priests from Jonathan Hickman's Avengers/New Avengers run.

I don't think Styrak left on his own because he rebelled. During the final phase of the boss fight, he calls out to the other five to empower him, and they do. He is not absorbed either, he and Brontes return from death with their own minds intact as ghosts. It would be impossible for either to break off, they are going mad after Styrak died, and want to recruit the player (at least if it is a sith) as the sixth to restore themselves. All six have a unique dominion, they don't really work without each other, their bonds is a vast part of power. They probably can't even die on their own, Raptus' last words ("At last...") and Bestia's last words ("Death... I feel it." in a very peaceful voice) imply that they do not really enjoy life. Their schemes run even deeper than what listed here. What was left out: - They started to recruit a very large group of prisoners on Belsavis to their cause. - They gathered a lot of different beasts and machines, and enchanced them with their powers. - They had a mole in the team of future Empress and then Dark Councilor Darth Acina. - They sent a strike team to recover a full ship of HK-51 droids their acolyte used to unsuccesfully free them from prison on Belsavis. - They were the force behind the Explosive Conflict operation, where a group of rogue imperials and a trandoshan mercenary war group (the one Kephess lead before he directly switched to them, and in turn mutated into something) assaulted Denova. - They created something like the phobis devices on Oricon, their stronghold, and planned to ship it to heavily popuated worlds (including the sith capital Dromund Kaas, Coruscant and Nar Shaddaa) to make billions go insane.

That's a very apt description as they are essentially avatars of a much more devastating power in the manipulation of fear itself. If even one survived, the galaxy itself is in immense danger unless he can cling to any small semblance of sanity he may have before the dark sides betrays the master....leaving him a husk devoid of any emotion but fear, ironically being haunted by their fell deeds. I truly wish that we saw a dread master take on an apprentice, and teach them a lower version of their immense powers in sorcery and battle meditation. If one were secretly mastering the powers of the old masters, hed likely rival any rule of two era Sith.

@@SleepyKurisu it would still be lesser to the dread masters, as their full power woukd drive the most astute in the dark side insane (even vitiate could not fathom their depravity fully) but an adept taught in their ways? Would likely be stronger than most sorcerers weve seen in the more recent eras. The exception to the rule being plagues and sidious themselves, because I'm not convinced that anyone learning their ways could overtake the two candidates for the rule of one.

@@matthill5426 the fact that the emporer believed the dread masters to be an invaluable asset in war and then wanted absolutely nothing to do with then due to their extreme power honestly says enough about both the dread masters and vitiate. As the emporer becomes a dark side entity, and still even while on the road to becoming truly eternal, he would never do combat with them. I've no doubt he would win, but I've also no doubt that that fight would be on an entirely different scale than any weve seen in Sw

Never played this game, so it was an informative holocron for me. I'm not as down on the Acolyte as many are because I find some of the concepts they are trying to explore interesting. But it would be good to get a more hardcore Sith story, similar to an Andor tone. Any future holocrons that cover Sith victories would work for me.

I know it's to make the flow of the video better and logically speaking, the player characters are too busy with their own stories to be doing the planet story, but it seems a bit weird to set freeing the dreadmasters after the emperor's death. I mean correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the entire reason the Empire was even on the planet was to free high priority targets like the dreadmasters so only accomplishing that after the emperor's death kind of makes the entire operation a failure and they would sooner pull out and regroup.

The Old Republic and most Legends stories are peak Star Wars, in my opinion. I don't hate the Disney canon, I just choose to ignore most of it. I refuse to hate monger on something that isn't worth the energy or time. I gave most of what Disney had to offer a try and I found it just didn't do it for me. Andor, Rogue One, and some of Mando are cool. I really liked the Night Troopers in Ahsoka. Rebels and The Bad Batch are fantastic!

@@Starline9212 If you want versatility, then you should go with Niman. True decent in all, master of none. Used primarely by those who mainly focused on using Force, instead on relying on their skill with their lightsaber. Kenobi made do through his whole career by mastering Soresu to absolute mastery - even Mace Windu said that despite himself creating his own form (Vaapad), Kenobi mastered it to absolute perfection. It is mostly defensive stance, relying on quick provoking attacks, devastating precision, stalwart defense, and crushing counter attacks. Good against blasters (beaten only by Shien), and quite good in combat. But if you fight enemy, who is truly master fighter, then as Kreia put it, it only delays the inevitable defeat. Shien is the form used by Galen Marek (Starkiller) and Ahsoka - fast, dynamic form, focused on strong offense, and deflecting attacks back to the opponent. It's signature was its reversed grip on a lightsaber. It leaves you slightly exposed to Force powers. Makashi is duelist stance, used by Dooku. Based on IRL fencing and saber fighting, it's efficient, quick, precise, and focused on hitting enemy weak points. Best when used with curved hilted lightsabers. Made to be used with Force powers in the off-hand. Kinda weak when used against heavily armored and highly aggressive enemies, especially when they rely on heavy, brutal attacks and when enemy leaves you no place for manouvers and footwork - best example of this is when Dooku was defeated by Anakin in episode 3.

@@Starline9212 Don't make a mistake sticking to a single form - even during prequels, almost every Jedi knew at least two forms - all knew Shi-Cho (broad attacks mixed with telekinetic attacks, designed to combat several apponents at once), which was mandatory for all Jedi, and Soresu. Or Ataru - nimble, acrobatic and dynamic form, used by Yoda when he fought Dooku in AotC. There was also Djem-So - brutish form, relying on powerful, staggering attacks and no less staggering counter attacks (Vader before he cut Luke's hand off) and Juyo - hyper aggressive, dynamic and unpredictable form, mostly used by the Sith. Jedi very rarely used Juyo, due to the nature of the form bringing user closer to the Dark Side. Very rarely taught, and all who knew it were closely monitored by the Council and Temple Guards. For Jedi to use it, it required high skill and adamant will and devotion to the Light side. Masters & Sith Lords knew several forms at least. The trick all good or above duelists used was to mix the stances and movesets mid combat, to confuse the enemy, and be less predictable.

As much as I love the legends stories, can some of us please stop bagging on Disney because you've decided they're somehow doing a complete fantasy *wrong* according to whatever criteria you've decided?
