For my own sci-fi writing, I found putting the Braindump into GPT-4 and asking for a 40 word or less genre summary worked well. It picked up not only the genres and subgenres of my universe but managed to incorporate a little of the theme of the current novel. It was a great jumping off point to tweak to my liking. Thanks for your videos!

Thanks so much for your videos! It's very inspirational content. As for now, I'm not using sudowrite. However, I'm watching all of your videos. Right now, I'm analysing my style and genre the way you did with sudowrite. I'm putting it all together as a guide for my writing to keep it next to me. It really helps as an author to remind yourself what you're going for, what pacing you want each chapter to be, what kind of dialogue you want to do, etc. I'm a seasoned screenwriter and the things you do with sudowrite are exactly what I'm facing each day - especially with clients you need to always remember what they are going for, so it's not just write it as it comes.

Interesting. Good advice. Avoid.. this and that. yes! yes! For me, those 40 words max for style and genre I feel is a HUGE downer "with" Sudowrite. But if you can get it right with any AI, it will help so much. My "Style & Genre" that I spend 2 weeks perfecting with ChatGTP is 800+ words. And it now works AMAZING. For ChatGTP it needs to be that detailed. It also includes small examples. My output on ChatGPT is now EXCELLENT! I have tested it by doing something very random, weird, like "Hey, please write two paragraphs on "random topic" and damn... the results are crazy, but spot on in the VERY specific style we developed.

I would love to see at least some of your 800+ words for perfecting your style 🙏🏼 could you post them or a link? I’m super interested because I really want to learn what I would really love in my style 🙌🏼💖🙏🏼 or if you have some advice on discovering your style I would appreciate it! 😊

I also would be interested in seeing your ChatGPT style prompt for structural reference and to see what categories I still need to define.

You defined dialogue to be realistic twice; in line 2 you specified Realistic and effective dialogue; in line 5 you specified Realistic dialogue. From your example, I have created this as the default standard definition I will be using (with items in the square brackets being optional and case specific): Third-person limited Deep POV; Descriptive vocabulary; Vivid imagery; Detailed descriptions; Avoid adjectives; Avoid adverbs; Show, don’t tell; Realistic and effective dialogue; Mixed cadence; Varied sentence structure; Avoid mushy prose; Avoid melo-drama; [Fast-paced]; [Action-packed]; [Character driven narrative]; [Plot-driven narrative]

Thank you for this, I used a story I had written to get my style and it worked like a charm. I didn't realise it would add sx scenes and profanity. It didn't censor my style. Thanks again.

I was wondering to fully demonstrate the power of the style box, you could offer duplicate sample chapters with the sames 2 or 4 beats to show how iterations work to get the solid prose you want. By that, i mean intentionally start with generic prose in the style box, generate the prose, and then compare it to a more detailed style prompt. Maybe it's because my beats aren't detailed enough, but I'm really not happy with most accurate's output currently even when i take the time to put character dialogue info and detaile style prompts 🤷‍♀️ but i refuse to give up.

Could the style section take inputs referring to other style systems, like "Follow Elmore Leonard's 10 rules for writing" or "Follow Strunk & White recommendations" or "Use Robert McKee's recommendations from his books"? Would it tend to do those things 'naturally' if you don't make them explicit, since they're probably part of the overall 'knowledge base'? (IMHO, following an author's recommendations is different than merely imitating his/her style) I'm curious to explore some of this myself, as soon as I can afford a Sudowrite subscription!

If you can confirm that the AI knows those things (you can ask ChatGPT) then yes that should help.

A simple way to add more info beyond 40 words in Genre and Style is to use hyphens, example - Third-person-limited-POV-per-George equals one word. Or Mixed-cadence equals one word. Cheers.

Just wondering: If i do Not want my novel to be a certain Genre...is IT OK to leave IT Just Out, or what would U suggest, iS IT even possible in sudowrite?

I am sure, you can define a genre combination or sub genre. Or give a list of must-have and never-use tropes. In ChatGPT, I tend to specify Plot Genre (horror, romance, crime mystery, etc..) and Setting Genre (high fantasy, sci-fi, post-apocalypse, etc...) as completely unrelated concepts. Currently I am working on a Mythology&Fables/Heist plot in a Post-Apocalyptic/Sword&Sorcery setting.
