Yes, Mr. Davis had a good sense of humor. About 20 years ago, I went to see him at a nearby hotel conference room to get initiated into Kriya Yoga. (I was only 21 years old at the time). After a lecture and meditation we broke for lunch. I bought a pizza at the hotel cafeteria and boxed up the other half for later. I then tried to sneak my big pizza box back into the conference room without being noticed. I quietly tiptoed back through the conference room door with box in hand. On the right was a big table with pictures of the Kriya masters and their fruit offerings. On the left was Mr. Davis and two senior disciples. All eyes converged on my pizza box. I sheepishly looked up at Mr. Davis and said: "Do you think the masters would like some pizza along with their fruit?" I then motioned as if I were about to lay the pizza box down on the table. The senior disciples' jaws dropped open... but Mr. Davis immediately burst out laughing and said: "Yes, I'm sure they would."

Beautiful, thanks Ryan. Simplicity is so important! I often remember the line from Autobiography where a saint tells Yogananda “God is simple. Everything else is complex.”

Thank you, Ryan 🙏🤗❤️💚🕊️ Yes, absolutely, Mr. Davis' teaching was simple, sophisticated, and practical. I lived a block down from CSA in Lakemont for 29 years (1993- 2022) listening to and observing Mr. Davis, at every Sunday meditation and on occasional, seasonal, Kriya Yoga workshops. All I needed to do was to observe how he lived, how he spoke, and walked his Kriya Yoga practice, sharing teaching from his Guru Yogananda ji. For me, my ultimate learning and source of enlightenment 🔆 was that how healthy, alert, and fit he was up until the moment of his last day on this earth. I feel blessed for this experience and his teachings. 💚🕊️🌈🙏

Thank you for sharing this Ryan. I have recently begun to realise that I can overthink sometimes, not so much overdramatise, but try to over intellectualise yoga. It’s when I am drawn back to the simplicity, the breath, simply being, I understand I am where I need to be now :)

I think some people don’t understand why young people touch the feet of their elders. It has nothing to do about 2 equals. The feet is considered to contain the most amount of energy field and the head. Even if we accidentally kick someone’s feet, we would touch their feet and say sorry. There is supposed to be an energy flow if done right. When the young person touches the feet, the elder normally places their hands on the young person head and an energy field is created. That is the significance of it. It is a cultural thing. Those who don’t understand may brush it off as insignificant but those who do, appreciate it when it is done.

That is interesting, thank you for your input. My little boy used to lie down on a floor underneath people's bare feet, nobody understood why he was doing that. He was doing this since he was a little toddler, very naturally and instinctively. He was also very picky about the feet he chose! He's a bit older now and doesn't do it anymore (he is from a western culture).

Before I press play. I’d like to guess. Was it smile a lot and give great hugs? Was it to get a trampoline and jump on it till you wet your pants with glee? Was it to try blow drying your hair and wearing a snazzy frock like old yogananda? Was it get a good stage for your act and a decent audience? Was it to stop ducking about with breath work and tell your gran you love her instead? Was it to only eat McDonald’s as a way to connect to god? Was it to please get off KZbin and do the thing you know will reap results because you already know because you are mostly your subconscious? I play. The play. Thanks pal for being lovely x
