I play on 11.2 note speed, turned off sound effects and -3.5 offset on a 120 hz android phone. With that I can comfortably AP songs up to Lv. 29 and FC up to Lv. 31. So once you find your perfect note speed, offset and decide whether you want to play with SE on or off, the game becomes a lot easier.

I struggle with this so bad because I play on PC (which might sound easy, especially since my computer is touchscreen), but it’s because it’s that depending on the song, you have to change your settings (besides the speed) MANY times and the flicks don’t come in or just comes in after a note has passed. What’s really infuriating to me is that when you try to use more than one finger (like for holds), you end up zooming the whole screen out and mess up everything. But I’ll edit it if your tips worked out for me.

you can try inching your note speed up little by little (going to 6.1 or 6.2 for example). by pushing your speed up just a little, you can potentially improve your stamina up to a point where you can start to get comfortable, and then from there you can keep moving forward. good luck!

So 60hz devices struggle a lot with latency Im gonna try 120hz with Bluetooth and without to see the difference What about high charts 31+ and beyond did you notice any latency with both your device and what worked the best
@biriamuАй бұрын
bluetooth audio increases audio latency, which is a separate case from touch latency. if both are high, then it'll definitely feel weird to play. the best way for me to play is usually to play with either wired earbuds/headphones, or with built in speakers, and if your (android) device supports 120hz, you should take advantage of it. 120hz decreases touch latency because it also increases the touch sampling rate on your device. basically this just means that it's a lot faster to pick up touches from your fingers, which reduces touch latency.

Is it normal to tap hard on the screen, or only on very fast charts? That happens to me. Also I haven't moved my timing in the two months I've been playing, I've been doing well, less than 10 Greats on each song. I had some experience in rhythm games so I could do that up to difficulty 23 in my first week of the game until now: I started going up difficulty and I notice I get more Greats (+20), but really the Early/Late bar is balanced, so I don't know what to do. And I am stuck like that since the last month.
@biriamu3 ай бұрын
For me, I usually tap harder if either the chart itself is very fast, or if the note speed is too fast. This is why I tend to keep my note speed below 11.0 as the shortened reaction time above 11.0 would cause me to tap a lot harder. I've noticed that tapping hard tends to decrease my stamina a lot faster, so if you find yourself in a similar situation, you can always move your note speed down by 0.1 or 0.2. It could be weird for a while but it might feel a little more easy on your hands. It's normal to get more greats as you move up in difficulty. I go through the same myself, and through more practice and playtime you'll be able to minimize the amount of greats. Good luck!
@Featherfox_253 ай бұрын
I have a big problem like my normal comfort speed was 11.0 but now after i took a break from the game a bit it's too fast for me, but 10.9 is too slow. I never play with sound on so what should i do😭😭😭😭

Considering you play without sound, changing offsets will have basically no affect on the gameplay, so realistically your only option is to get comfy with 11.0 again. Once you play enough charts you might find yourself adjusting right back to where you once were.

Do you know why the real-life tap sounds for players like Enamel and Dabi sound so pronounced? I can distinctly hear when their fingers touch the screen, but when I play myself, I usually can only barely hear my own taps if at all. I can only hear it consistently if I’m also tapping the screen with my nails, but that doesn’t seem to be what they’re doing. Also wondering what you do to reduce screen friction, if anything at all? Thanks for the videos.
@biriamu3 ай бұрын
Great questions! I would assume firstly it's most likely due to the screen protector used. Matte screen protectors give off a different feel and sound compared to regular tempered glass protectors/non protected screens. I believe it might also have something to do with the positioning of the device. I think Enamel Man has his iPad propped up at an angle, and that empty space between the table and his iPad will create a hollower, more distinct sound. Dabi's tap sounds are so good. I would have thought it might be because of his nails, but it doesn't seem to be the case if I look more closely. Again, it might have something to do with device positioning. I would definitely recommend investing in a matte screen protector if you can! It makes a pretty significant difference to gameplay. You can also experiment with the positioning/placement of your device. For example, you could prop it up, or put a microfiber cloth under your device. They will all generate different sounds for when you tap! Hope this answered your questions.

Is a timing of -4 common??? Ive been playing for a month or two and havent really touched my timing that much but i generally get around the 5-10 greats on expert charts
@biriamu3 ай бұрын
not really, no. most people get by fine at the default offset setting (0.0), especially those who play with sound effects. i just find -4.0 to work particularly well for my device mainly because i play without sound effects, and due to various factors such as touch input latency and (sometimes) the clunkiness of flicks. in any case, if you feel you're getting by fine with the default timing settings, there's no need to change it 👍

You can increase your note speed just a tiny bit if you still find 10.9 and 11.0 to not be enough. Alternatively, you can move your timing to +1.0 or +2.0 for example, and see if that works. Sound effects are on by default, but if you're comfortable with it, you can leave them be. Since you're just starting out, I recommend adjusting your note speed gradually and getting comfortable with it. no problem! timing is meant to help you fine tune to your playstyle, so if you find the default timing to work then it is totally ok 👌

I play at 11 and offset/ timing 8.1.. What does that imply for my device, or am I just doing this wrong lol I've been getting a lot of FC expert tho. Hope I'm in a comfortable setting cause overall I'm good, but damn master 29 is still a barrier I can't pass :')
@biriamu2 ай бұрын
is that + or - 8.1? and which device do you use? that's a pretty steep offset either way. if it's a negative offset, I find it easier to balance if the note speed is slower.
@ayuniaot2 ай бұрын
@biriamu + 8.1 on Samsung galaxy tab 8. I do want to make it slower somehow cause getting into master territory is a bit too fast for comfort, but at the same time, my taps are too 'early' Sorry to bother you but love to hear any suggestions. Or maybe I just need to play more lol. I still can FC some level 27 so it's all good

@@ayuniaot no worries, i'm glad to help. i believe it could be a speed issue. that offset is a little too far in my opinion, maybe bring it back down and increase the speed a bit. most of it just comes down to practice, so it'll start to make more sense once you play more charts.

if i can only play with bluetooth headphones, is it even possible for my taps to actually line up with the music?
@biriamu2 ай бұрын
maybe, but you'd have to make some pretty significant offset adjustments. i found that sometimes i'd have to move my offset to -20, and even then sometimes it wouldn't be enough. maybe push your offset further back and see if your taps start to align with the music.
