6:27 If ever setting you mindset into "This is easy" doing the reverse might actually work too. Because if you think like it is easy, you will start to expect too high about yourself, and thoughts like "This is easy, why is it so hard?", or "Maybe I'm too bad to do easy stuff" might discourage you. If ever thinking that way didn't work, try thinking "This is hard, so I have to focus more" might actually work because you'll have low expectations and actually just focus on giving your best.

Loved the vid as always. Also I like that you mentioned rivalry, because this is what really pushed me. I pushed to #300 in around 2 years and all because I had a rivalry going on with someone who would become a good friend of mine. We basically kept overtaking each other for a very long time. But as soon as he stopped playing, I started to not improve anymore and all my motivation was gone. I solely played for the reason of playing the game for well over a year. The turning point for me was when I realized that mistake and started seeking motivation somewhere else. Improving my aim, stream, speed whatever it is. If you find motivation to improve on something and invest time and especially brain into it, you will become better eventually. Yeah idk where that was going but maybe someone get's inspired or something idk. Have a good day :^)

I don't know if you remember me (from discord) but I need to say that I really enjoy these recent videos where you talk about osu skillsets/improvement. And imo this is the best and most important video out of all, many people forget that osu is just a game and they are too focused on improving without having patience. I learned by myself that it needs patience and time to get better, especially if you don't have the muscles and stamina for certain things. It's not about raging/feeling bad about streaming from 180bpm to 200bpm doesn't work in a week, it's the slight improvement that you should always appreciate. A year ago I thought it would be impossible to ever play higher than 4* and my friend who showed me osu was already doing some 5*. I started getting good at some 5* and at one point even able to fc 6*. Looking back is very funny because I know exactly that I never thought getting there was possible l - this shows me that with time and patience I can still get to points I never thought of. Anyway, just wanted to say good job on these videos, I really enjoy them

All of these maps (expect for doraemon) used to be so hard for me while single tapping. I choke ( of course) in all 3 of them but at least I’m kinda getting better at alternating.

Watching other people play osu! strive me to at least make an effort to improve and enjoy the game itself, it gives me a lot of motivation. I say I'm doing normal at it, I can only play hard and light insane beatmaps. What made me have this mindset was the boost of improvement I've made, I once played a normal difficulty and I felt accomplished. Without realising I started going onto a beatmap that had more stars. Once I mastered that one harder beatmap and tried played Normal again, it felt easy. That day really made me change my mindset.

5:58 For me it's more like, "holy shit that player is so good. I'm so jealous and I want to get to their level" There's a Discord friend I know who went from seven digit to around 100K in just about two months (meanwhile I've been playing for a year now and I'm still stuck at 580K). Seeing her improvement rate on her profile page made me so jealous. Like, how did she get so good? I was seething in envy, I didn't even want to look at her page again. I thought, maybe if I use that envy as motivation to get better, I could improve. But I also thought that well, it's not genuine inspiration, it's just pure envy. And that's probably not a good mindset for me. Nevertheless, I still want to be able to get to 100K and be able to play 5* in two months or less, telling myself "If she can, I can". But fuck I still couldn't help but feel jealous...

I have this best friend of mine which we technically played at the same day (he created his account after a few days) because he went to my house and was like "Bro, check out this game called osu! download it". We laughed at ourselves on how bad we were even at the tutorial like clicking the both ends of a slider lmfao. And yes, Kuba Oms gang. We started playing the game alot after that we improved in our own ways. I bought a tablet and he stuck to mouse although given that he really wants to play on mouse not only because he couldn't afford one at that time but it was because he felt like he was comfortable with it. And so we started playing as I said. We farmed CBCC when it was fresh (still proud of those days don't disagree on me dude). At first our skill set weren't that far off we were both just farmers playing some dt. Heck we would even self -proclaim ourselves "The Tablet and The Mouse Gods" in school it was fun as shit. We had a good year of playing and then this is the part where we see the difference in our playstyle. My friend was focusing more on accuracy and streaming meanwhile I was doing tech and jump. At this point we were having a friendly competition like whos gonna reach 2k pp or 3k pp first and all that good shit and we may be the fault for our motivation to improve at this game. After that we took a break for like a year and a half then we came back. Our skillsets we're refined and you can distinguish our playstyle in someways although our skillsets did not set a huge skill gap between us since we were playing at roughly the same times maybe one specialises this skill set like me: dude I can't even hit acc with those streams him: cant even hit those jumps and all those things and we were pushing each other to tell that he is the better player. 3 years later from since we began (October 2017), we both are still 5 digit. I'm sitting at around 54k and hes at 46k (trying to remember) he reached 5k pp before me also he got like 4,999 pp then next play 5k is like 1 pp with a dream is real epic. And here we are still, tapping to the circles and we still have our own small rivalry but this time our skillset kinda broaden a little although general performance is the same for example he can stream with high acc, he is extremely consistent and has fantastic ur (unstable rate) meanwhile I can hit high bpm, techy and/or speedy jump maps Our mindset was really the reason why we are still here today playing this circle tapping game to music, its because of friendship, competition, motivation and most importantly........ ...flexing All I have to say is if you can't find someone like I have which weve known each other for quite some time and we started playing the game at the same time, go find someone your rank and befriend them because you can help each other's out actively and most of the time passively (this goes well with alot and I mean by ALOT of top players). Competition ain't fun if you got no shit against the competitor. So stop complaining that you can't reach that one top player you've always dreamt of and start motivating yourself that you can find success and growth right this moment by just simply comparing yourself, your motivation, your will power and your dedication and you'll start seeing the bigger picture of where and how improvement works for your stage of the game. Tldr: Don't overlook on other players that are clearly skilled and experienced with the game because in the end you'll demotivate yourself but instead, go find someone in your range and there where real eagerness for improvement and actual improvement starts Edit: Same situation for my new bestfriends who have been bestfriends for years aswell. Me and Huwu (check out his channel tho poggers) introduced them into playing osu! Since both of them has the same level of friendship like I do with Huwu, they were playing the game casually, playing their favorite songs and maps and seeing improvement in each other. One time the other surpassed the other ones pp and the other dude started farming so he can regain his rank. Also me and Huwu promised to give them an osu supporter for the first one to reach 100pp play (I think they're both 900pp I actually really forgot ill edit it once I recheck because internet is kinda do be buggy). Oh well well how history repeats am I right? I can see those both improving quick in no time.
