One thing that frustrates me to no end about Ray-Ban’s website is that nowhere does it say whether the lens material is glass or polycarbonate. I actually had to call to get that info when shopping on their site recently. This is really stupid when you consider that certain frames (the New Wayfarer in my case) can have either glass or polycarb. According to the employee I spoke with over the phone the G-15 and B-15 are glass, all others are polycarbonate. Why they can’t just list it in the lens information section is beyond me. So stupid.

I prefer Serengeti. Their website is awesome. I kind of stuck on that brand... just love it.

If it doesn’t say glass, it isn’t. Enough said Cheers

I find that a category 3 brown lens works ok on an overcast day.
@ShadeReview Жыл бұрын
Absolutely typically brown lenses are a big lighter than black or gray, and they also increase contrast which helps make the appearance brighter than they actually are!

Who makes those 2N aviators you used in the video, love the lens color. Ray Ban did remove the text info about the lenses, idk why, and I agree their website is trash lol, but under the 'try lenses' button they give you a nice visual example of how much sun the lens blocks, and listed below that are the ideal conditions, sunny/shady/cloudy/etc to which the lenses are best suited. So at least there's that, when it works lol.

Greta video and solid advice! Very few even consider it but many I see do make comments about how dark a lens is or is not 😎

Any clue where HCL Bronze from Maui Jim fits?
@chrisadan7895 Жыл бұрын
Pretty sure all Maui Jim lenses are a category 3 with the exception of their HT Green lens, think that one should be a category 2
@attilab.2818 Жыл бұрын
@chrisadan7895 No. HCL Bronze is category 2. Maui Rose is also category 2.
@jeffu.8053 Жыл бұрын
The light transmission of the HCL Bronze lens varies slightly depending on the lens material. For their glass lenses it is 14%, so category 3.
@attilab.2818 Жыл бұрын
@jeffu.8053 No. We have just ordered a HCL Bronze Glory Glory, SuperThin Glass and category 2. Mariposa with Maui Rose SuperThin Glass lenses also category 2.
@jeffu.8053 Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure where you got your information from but both of those lenses are definitely category 3. I owned a pair with the bronze lenses so I know from experience how dark they are.
