Is it bad to admit that the most relatable bit of the entire video is the anger and confusion at sewage icons popping up followed by quiet and concealed thoughts of, "Oh ya. Sewage outlet, not water intake, one sec"? 😂 Fantastic video, Biffa!

@METALFREAK03 Жыл бұрын
@@DakotaActually Probably shouldn't blame Biffa as the trend (aka audience) is to watch heavily edited short videos (10 mins to 20mins) rather than PL (Play a Longs) of "old" (circa 2013). Plus YT put ads on these videos with premiums more than longer vids. You either have two choices nowadays on YT: 1) Livestreams with an archive channel for them and maybe cut your livestreams into short form vids. 2) Do short format video (10 to 20mins) with shorts (1 min) (aka Edited "reels" as we call them).

I also started a one-tile challenge myself... But I did it differently: First I placed 3 coal power plants and then removed them again. This allowed me to reach the next level. Then I bought a completely new map tile at the end of the map, which also has highway and electricity connections.

Great vid! My only criticism is that you could've maximised your available space by leaving a 2 square gap for more buildings between the peripheral road and the outside border! 😉
@lui472 Жыл бұрын
He could also get a lot more space by not make a grid but make a striped road layout. Buildings don't need access to two roads, and could remove all horizontal (or vertical) roads to unlock more space for buildings instead of roads.

Let's talk about optimizing this setup. You start with 75x75u, meaning 5625u in total. The outer roads take (((75x2)x4)-4x4)u = 584u. Your planned grid had a 1u road every 4u. The inner dimension of the ring was 73u, so 14,6 blocks. These roads would span the whole 73u, and intersect the same ammount. I'll round to 14, so (((73x14)x2)-14x14)=1848u. That means you are losing 2432u to roads with current layout. I guess you could replace the ones not bordering the city entrance with 1u roads, gaining (73x2)-1u = 145u. But more importantly, I guess you can easily reclaim most of your road layout by increasing grid size to 8x4, meaning 1 road every 9-10u in one axis and the same 14 road layout on the other axis. This would mean (((73x14)+(73x9))-14x9)=1553u. The more you can strech this concept, even if you need to add some kind of infrastructure as bike or metro, the more area you end up with. Also, I question if 2x2 is the most efficient lot size for every single zoning type. Maybe larger industrial, commercial, or higher density zones will disproportionatelly generate more households or employment. Unfortunatelly, I can't test this theory. Also, I guess importing energy might be the way to go, since it uses less space than the enormous power plants. Later, incineration plants might be useful, since they deal with garbage and power at the same space usage.
