❤ every once in awhile, you show a house that makes my heart hurt for the past. I'm 50 now. My age range really had an amazing upbringing. Running around while the parents had dinner parties and gatherings. We were out till the street lights came on. Drank out of water hoses. In the yard playing. Our minds were imprinted with life experiences. Sort of sad for my grandkids. Their noses always stuck on TV or their iPads. Anyhay, thank you for bringing back wonderful memories of family.

I have to be satisfied we could try the “three mile to six mile connecting bike and forest preserve running track with park playground on park service police supervision to insurance age.

I lived in a 1960s A-Frame. My (now, late) maternal grandparents lived in a ranch-stlye house(2 levels), next to a people's cemetary: no problems with that!

The brick fire place and spiral stair combo was EVERYTHING and the light fixtures are the cherry on top… I never knew I wanted a Tudor style basement until now… Love this place 👍

This house represents a brief period in the 70's when the Spanish/ Mediterranean style Hacienda was in Vogue, the faux lantern style hall light, the wrought iron look light fixtures, what a period color palate. a recessed sunshine ceiling in the galley kitchen was the topper. Awesome find, Ethan

@@gretchenk.2516Yes we had that style in entire neighbourhoods. Not so much Spanish but Tudor. This was quite the house with all the style in its time. But i have been many homes like it in my life.

I love this house. The front room was the formal living room and where the China cabinet was is the formal dinning room. On the other side of that beautiful fireplaces is a din. I can't believe they left thier console stereo down in the basement. I don't care what people think....I love love love this house!! Thank you for sharing this video. That was awesome ! I can't believe how pristine the whole house is. There is no vandalism or graffiti. I love the textured wallpaper. The stereo was a nice surprise. But the spiral staircase as the centerpiece was so creative ! It is a shame to demolish such a great house. Thanks for sharing !

I love that unique house! I would buy it tomorrow and not change much besides wallpaper and carpet and window coverings. For some reason I HATE vertical blinds. That staircase and fireplace combo is one of a kind. Took some knowledge and craftsmanship and time to construct and that’s somewhat nonexistent in todays world where everything appears to merely be thrown together. I love this style of house where you don’t exactly know what to expect when you walk in the door. Would have been a fun place to grow up. The setting peaceful. Would have been great relaxing on summer evenings on the balcony. I certainly hope that someone can salvage that amazing stereo in the basement. And that nice china cupboard in dining room. Thank you for sharing this fun cool explore Ethan. Please take care be well and stay safe!

Oh oh oh. Thanks for bringing us another amazing retro gem. I can just see handlebar moustaches and sideburns and velvet trousers and long hair and maxi-dresses there. I can tell small children were there once - that’s why there’s that barrel bolt up the top of the front door - kids can’t get out or answer the door without parent to unlatch. I wish we could have seen the outside too though, I really wanted to see that tree pool… I wonder what the original cars in the new garage looked like.

Wow, the untouched original condition of this one is incredible!! It definitely has the all the elements of a 70's quality custom home! There were so many sub categories of decorating styles in that era. I'm not sure, but I'd probably call this one, Country Manor style. 🤔 Overall the color choices and look, would be a little too dark for my taste, but are of great quality and style none the less. The large property looks awesome as well! Cool find 😎✌️

The spiral staircase with the brick into the fireplace in the family room was genius. The basement with the cards, Phillips stereo, pool table, and the China hutch so beautiful . I loved the green tub and toilet also all just left behind. It's a mystery to me why anyone would want to leave this beautiful home with 2 car garage, pool out back, in the country. So sad. Beautiful house and the brick fireplace/staircase was really gorgeous! I’d be willing to bet that the dark green floral wallpaper/burgundy carpet was not original. Late 70s you still would have been into the earth tones and the flocked/mirrored wallpapers. These colors to me are more of the 80s Victorian revival phase. I am something of a wallpaper nut! So I would just say they probably upgraded the house with the colors that were more in style later on. The wall border and the combination of florals kind of dictates that. Florals were really not much in style in the late 70s it was more geometrics or bold abstract floral. As always love your videos!! Cindy 🙋‍♀️🌈🌈

OMG, this house was AMAZING and in such good condition, too--and it's going to be DEMOLISHED?! WHYYYY?! The Brass, the fixtures, the OAK EVERYWHERE! FARK what a DREAM to have and live in this house--yes, those were little closets in those bedrooms, perfectly sized for children--and I bet those other 'small' doors led to the others' bedrooms so the kids could play in each other's rooms and such. OMG, this was definitely someone's childhood home. I could gush on and on and ON about this one; what an incredible house! Just replace the carpet in one of the rooms and sort a few other bits, and you could LIVE IN IT, still!

Very odd for a custom built home. That staircase would have been a nightmare to get furniture up and around it onto the second floor with it being so narrow. Definitely could have been bigger as they had a lot of square footage to play with. Plus not as many windows as I thought there should be to let in the light ... especially in the kitchen. As long as they enjoyed it it's all good. Great tour ✌

Hi Ethan. Great find in its original state. Too bad about all the cool features and that stereo going to trash. I saw a quick glimpse of the outside and the downstairs paneling imitate English Tudor style, also with all the floral wallpaper. Almost imitates a castle with those curves and light fixtures. Very cool. I don’t believe a mansion, just an affluent middle class home in the country. The front room is the formal living room attached to the formal dining room which leads to the breakfast nook in the kitchen. I love the view of the staircase from the kitchen doorway. That is a lovely architectural view. I wonder if it was intentional. The room with the fireplace is the family room where the family hangs out the most. Too bad the new owners cannot keep this place, as it gets developed. The original owners really loved this place. You captured that well. Very bad to see moths trapped inside. Be safe. Glad you didn’t walk on the deck.

Oh, the memories. We had one of those console record players with the radio growing up. It was terrible to have to move, weighed a ton 😂. We had a console TV too, that had a remote that didn’t work the same way modern ones do. You pushed the channel button and it made a little whooshing noise and the channel would go to the next channel and if you missed the channel you wanted you had to go all the way through the channels again. Volume was the same, it went from on through higher volume and then off. I had a piece of chain from a hanging lamp that I was tossing around and it changed the channel! 😂 I was surprised that in a house with those high end finishes that the bedrooms had such poor closets. Those low closets are not for big people, with full sized clothes.

My parents house was built in the 70's so my bathroom had the avocado toilet and bathtub and tiles too. Double sinks are dark orange. It also had orange and green floral wallpaper and for whatever reason the carpet was a soft fuzzy peach color. Tub and sinks are still in there today but the carpet was pulled out, wallpaper removed and toilet is now white. It's a mixed up looking bathroom now. The rest of the house still has all the original wallpaper and carpet in the finished basement in the family room and bedrooms. Houses built in the 70's were quite unique in color schemes and textures.Really cool to see this house!

There is no justification for tearing down that house; it seems structurally sound. I would guestimate that it cost between $125K and $150K to build it in the late 70s. My home [1196 sq ft, a three bedroom ranch cost 35K to build with a lot of similar materials in 1979. I wonder if the paneling is laminated and the doors are hollow core. Nice find, Ethan.
