80's in Australia I used to skate a halfpipe in the middle of a forest in Winston Hills. Totally hidden and it was awesome. Then they cut down the forest and bulldozed it in the 90's

That skating on the dirt is not that sketchy. Yes you slide more, but because the trails are usually canted on curves it allows to slide right past. There are a LOT of skateable trails in Colorado. I do recommend bigger wheels, though. You can tell they are using HUGE wheels. Those look bigger than 70 mm. I use the Shark Wheel's 95mm wheels. Though the 72mm and 60mm wheels roll nicely over the dirt as well. Me and a friend used to do it all the time.

They're just big soft longboard wheels. I was skating dirt roads like 20 years ago dude lol. I also had some really big wheels and deck raisers that were made for off road riding, but the longboard wheels were actually kinda better off road.
