Secretly they’ve been making games the whole time they’re just taking a long time. Deadlock has been through at least three complete redesigns now over nearly 10 years. Remember tf2 “After 9 years in development, hopefully it will have been worth the wait”? Valve just doesn’t release junk.

they probably wanted to get source 2 in a more useful state before starting to work more games. Then there were some hardware projects and covid which they didn't deal well with apparently. There was also artifact, underlords and half life alyx. Artifact failed but you can still see they put some time and effort in it. I have a feeling they will make more games now.

It really just depends on game to game momentum. If you have a team behind you and are rolling them and making multi kills it’s fun. It isn’t fun being the best player on the team while you’re being rolled though. Goes for any team game.
