the fact that several players this tournament (Nairo, Samsora, Zackray) took Leo to Game 5 but couldn't close it out shows a couple things. 1) Leo's mental game is incredible - as well as his situational awareness in the game and in his opponent. He is so good at breaking down an opponent's playstyle to the point he knows when they're scared, he knows what they're going to do, and he will tear them apart in the end. There is no dispute he is the greatest - while Joker is a beast of a character, he suits Leo's oppressive punish and pressure style. A match made in Smash heaven. 2) I think people ARE closing in on him in the skill gap - other people in the top 10 will adapt and catch him - but when that happens is simply unknowable - it's hard to say if the gap is closing until someone can actually take a tournament from him. I look forward to Shine very much! edit: people have pointed out that other players HAVE taken sets off him, Marss even taking a tourney. so yeah, skill gap is very close! that makes it all the more thrilling :)

The Leo vs Zackray set reminds me a lot of the ZeRo vs Ranai set back at Genesis 3. The reason I say this is because I feel that even as a spectator of the set you can recognize all of the adaptations and mindgames occurring in real-time; reading tech-chases and changing edge-gaurding options. I think that's what makes this set the best in Ultimate so far. Also, that whole sequence starting at around 29:10 is insane. Zackray stayed so relentless on Leo's roll and tech options, nearly being correct in option coverage every step of the way. Great set and I look to see more between these two in the near future.

Whoever edited the sequence with zackray and leo is a goddamned bard. The story line is so tragic and yet so well told. Poor zackray. Im pretty sure he was kicking himself once he failed to capitalize on leo's missed tech on that second to last stock and it mentally shook him even before he lost the set. I think thats why it hurt so bad cuz he knows he had it. Its much the same with how tweek was one input from winning evo and just got shook from missing that opportunity and got swept in the reset.

Not just Zackray but I feel like MKLeo just crushed so many spirits this tourney (Zackray, Nairo, Tweek, Samsora). Like this guy is truly a once in a generation talent. He reminds me of Faker. He is stoic and merciless during the game but a really nice and humble guy outside. You see what the man does and you can not want to be a fan. At the end of the day, I guess it really comes down to experience. Leo started Smash much earlier than Zackray did and established himself a prodigy at a very early stage. Zackray, not being that much younger still learnt the game quite quickly and has improved ever since. Being so young, his emotional loss was completely understandable. He will beat Leo one day, I don't know when but I believe that young man from Japan will make his big break one day.

Leo’s is a master at figuring out his opponent. Zackray switched to rob after winning with wolf, and then won with rob. He stayed rob, and Leo adapted. Maybe the key to defeating Leo lies in using a mix of characters against him, in turn taking away his ability to adapt?
