Same happened when Paul did a switch hardflip and Leandre did it regular. Paul is more confortable with sw hardflips than regular. It's interesting the way they played, it's pretty much: "If I do the comfortable version of the trick I'm doing, you do the comfortable version for you and viceversa".
@PHeMoX4 жыл бұрын
Well, to be fair, don't a lot of skaters prefer tricks in very specific stances anyway? Like most will have a better switch heel than regular heel or maybe even a better nollie heel. It's why the whole stance thing makes less sense than you'd think. It just comes down to what tricks people have done the most, mastered the best. And I actually found it came across as a bit too much of try-harding pretending they don't have a stance. They definitely do. Just look at the sketchy landings at times and the direction shoulders are facing.
@misterpopo39204 жыл бұрын
but for the kickflip as an example he had to do both variations. with the heelflip and treflip as well. so if he just goes with the stance its easiest for him and the opponent does it switch/normal afterwards he has to do it in his other stance.
@fernandoreyes6804 жыл бұрын
@PogChamp Yeah, that's fair. A lot of kids do try to hard to come off as unique. I really think Leandre is a very unique skater though. Looking at this game of skate I would say he is regular footed but the way he skates goofy on transition is fucking impressive.
@Naratis4 жыл бұрын
Replying to the comments on this thread in general. I think the main thing is like there's a way you'd be naturally more comfortable but then again you can always teach yourself to do something different. If you're naturally goofy but you learned regular from the start you'd be considered regular. The only true not having a stance is if you literally just skated every which way from the start and you feel comfortable either way you push/pop. Thing is it's up for debate. The matter of doing a trick the way it's easier for you rather than focusing on what stance it is is interesting though. It could be a better way to play skate actually, I can see a distinct advantage to throwing out stances (at least regular vs switch and fakie vs nollie). For example if someone does fakie heel and I like nollie heels better, assuming we get equal opportunity it makes no difference. When he messes up I'll just do the nollie heel and he'll have to deal with it. BUT let's say he doesn't mess up after that and the fakie heel was the difference between me getting E. That could then change up the whole game. Overall ignoring stance for regular/switch and nollie/fakie makes games of skate slightly more evenly grounded, and it can add to making a skater more well rounded.

For instance, let's say Prod does 6 switch tricks then the other guy should have maintained the same stance for all 6 of those switch tricks. Regardless if that stance is regular or goofy the stance should have been the same for all switch tricks. Which clearly didn't happen. I'm even more confident that he cheated because at the end Prod was like, "so I get 4 trys" because he knows he was kind of screwed. On top of that, all of Leandre tricks were pretty sloppy. He's goofy footed and making it look switch
@Skapo4 жыл бұрын
@@therealwewin I spent a bunch of time watching through his videos over the last couple days because I was curious what his skating would be like across all his clips. I noticed a few things. A - Even though he can skate smoothly goofy footed on transition, he tends to stick to only airs, grinds, and a select few grab variations. Sometimes he will do a finger flip/shuv in goofy stance. However, he is totally comfortable throwing out flip trick and flip trick grabs in regular stance even on transition. B - All of his goofy street tricks are popped lower, are much more light footed, he pushes slower and less powerfully, and his body positioning just screams switch stance. Everything from the way he sets up to pop his board, all the way to how he catches & spins himself and the board. The only trick that is kinda normal looking is his tre flip in goofy stance. Even that is lower than normal. Super light footed. C - He simply skates faster in regular stance. More commanding ya know? Like he's just more comfortable regular. At least in street skating. On transition it's pretty neck & neck, but again I'll defer to my above comment about flip tricks & flip grabs. So yeah in summary, after having spent a bunch of time watch through his back log of videos, I am now 100% convinced he is regular stance and am not sure what everyone's on about with this whole "he has no stance" business. He obviously does and it's regular stance. That said! Dude's a beast. Extremely talented. Looks to be a genuinely awesome human being. I follow him on instagram now because it's some damn sick skating! But yeah, dude's regular stance no doubt.

Oliver Fichtelberg it’s just mad weird lmao i’m not hating. it almost sounds like he does have a stance for sure, but realized some tricks in his other stance are easier. example, i can’t varial heel, but i can switch varial heel often. BUT i’m not gonna say that’s my regular varial heel just because i can do it in “sketch stance” more than “regular stance”

So he aways skate switch on transition ?
@sk8_bort4 жыл бұрын
@@agloomysunday9048 We all do some tricks better switch, but that doesn't change the fact that they're switch. Leandre's case is a totally different thing though. You can tell by the position of his shoulders, body weight, head, etc. that sometimes his switch is goofy stance and sometimes his switch is regular stance. He has a natural stance and a switch one like everyone else does, the thing is that both of them vary depending on the trick he's doing and the obstacle he's skating. I can do switch varial flips way better switch, but that doesn't mean that's my natural stance. It still feels and looks switch. You guys are not getting it.

Idk why all these kids talking shit about these two legends of different times skating it the fuck out. It’s unfair people are even railing on SG that hard when 1.) he didn’t call himself stanceless before everyone called him that first 2.) every person he’s probably skated with at parks growing up where not nearly on this level of consistency. Just landing the tricks he’s landing first try after seeing the person who litterally does the most perfect example of the trick is insane. And the fact he’s still catching high, and staying true to his style. this man landed atleast 20 tricks of different variations back to back with p-rod. I doubt any of you could land talking about his style is sketchy. I could justly say that before this match up there was no reason at all for SG to have those tricks on lock or even land them cleanly. ....the fact that he could perform these tricks at all with any consistency is why he’s at the level he is , and not many can land those tricks. You’re looking at one of the only others of that breed. Maybe Jimmy Carlin if he wasn’t lazy about his shit either. Skating is supposed to be fun.... don’t take the fun out of it by making everything about semantics.
