Check out Shiranui, a Japanese restaurant hidden on Springvale Road in Glen Waverley. Been around for years.

279 is definitely my favourite Japanese restaurant in Melbourne

The only place that the crab dish tastes like extreme crab. Everything is so well done just like in Japan.

Have you checked out specialist Japanese grocers and ingredient suppliers?

No, any particular places I should go to?

@ , Suzuran in Hawthorn East or their sister store Hinoki Japanese Pantry in Fitzroy, Fujimart in South Yarra, Ichiba Junction in South Yarra, Haiku Future in Camberwell, JFC online. Suzuran and Hinoki sell amazing freshly made sushi and sashimi and I recommend trying out both places.

"Most Japanese places in Melbourne are crap." You gotta try a few more bro! - Fummi fummi, Toris, Le Bajo, Calia etc.
@LocalEaters5 ай бұрын
Yes! Definitely going to try more. Le Bajo is great too!

Calia is gone now though

Caila was not Japanese and is closed. Very little authentic Japanese places in Melbourne. Most are fused…
@sonypd98425 ай бұрын
@@Playtime-lu8wj no Calia served Japanese food but was owned by a Malaysian guy that failed to pay his employees properly

@@Playtime-lu8wj Closed! Bummer. Yeah it wasn't Japanese but it served a lot of Japanese food. Tbh quality was dropping off last few times I went.
