Thanks Grace and Fiikazzo for that wonderful tour. We stayed in an apartment in Nyarutarama the first week of our three week holiday in Rwanda last year. In fact, I think I saw the apartment around 3 times in your video ! We love walking and it was so nice to see all of the streets that we had walked while there (we walked every part of your video so it brought back fond memories). I think we paid around $1200 for the apart for that first week. It was stunning, with amazing high ceilings, exceptional finishes and was massive. The large pool was too cold for us to use and it had a gym also which we didn't use either. Like most of Nyarutarama, the pool and gym were mostly for show. The only issue we had with the apartment was that when it rained heavily there was a foul smell coming back through the sewers into the building but as we discovered that this seems to be a problem everywhere in Kigali. Its a difficult one because when it rains it really rains and the sudden high volume of water would overpower most sewerage systems. The best part of the apartment had to be the staff, they were so lovely and friendly. They taught us KenyaRwandan ! Money makes money Grace... You could have visited the Tennis Club without being a member. We walked around it. Its quite small but quaint. Smallish swimming pool. Not all Rwandans have money. Most of the people who own properties in Nyarutarama are not from Rwanda. I never felt un-safe in Rwanda and we went everywhere, walking mostly. I only saw that green track being used once while we were there. People don't live in Nyarutarama, they are visiting temporarily. The weather in Rwanda is amazing, its cool because of the hills but warm enough because of the proximity to the Equator. You don't want to live in Nyarutarama Grace, its soul-less and sterile. There is no community feel, one evening we walked from the Convention center area home and although the streets were stunning from an Aesthetic perspective I reckon that we met less than 10 people on the walk. We moved to a much cheaper house in Kicukiro for the last two weeks of our holiday and it was so much nicer. There were actually real people living there. We met Rwandans and it was so much more enjoyable than that first week. Nyarutarama is not Rwanda or Africa, it seems to be what some Rwandans think that Kigali should be like. Its trying so hard to be like Europe. A golf course ? Really ? How many Rwandans could afford to buy a set of clubs, never mind pay the green fees to learn the game and practice. Golf is not necessarily a rich persons sport in Europe, however it does tend to attract pretentious snobs who want to be able to tell their friends that they play golf. Its a "look at me" sport to that extent. Once again, thanks to both of you for sharing this video with us. Safe travels. (go visit Kimironko market and see how much more vibrant it is compared to Nyarutarama)

You're right, Ronan. I noticed that most people living in Nyarutarama are tourists,I also lived in Kicukiro, and the prices in Kicukiro district are way affordable and easy to interact with locals in the neighbourhood. I'm happy to bring you some memories from your trip here in Rwanda.

Watching this video I have the impression that Rwandans seem to be careful people who take great care of their cars. Cars that are sometimes more than 20 years old and look new. They drive slowly and intelligently. I really like this way of doing things. It's admirable to see the space given to pedestrians and athletes. Plus, all this greenery almost makes me want to cry, it's so beautiful!!! I will come and visit in 2025 for sure !
