Yeah! In reality, Sonic would probably be super chill with Mario. The most conflict they coudl have is a friendly rivalry due to their different personalities, but they'd totally be great friends; the blue blur is easy to make friends with even the most devious of his rivals, so a nice guy like Super Mario? Yeah, easy. Also, I can see Sonic teasing Mario constantly about trying to get Peach on a date, but actually never trying it, just to see if it's enough of a push to make Mario do it first.

As stupid and cringy as I personally find those jokes in all honesty, being nearly 29 now, myself, they are the kinds of jokes that Sonic, as an actual teenager these days; would use, just like in the Sonic the Hedgehog movies.
