boys with rubber boots, mud, puddles, a digger, rocks, and the freedom to explore is what I call BLISS. Seeing Sawyer out there now following Crusoe and simply being a boy is so darn nice. How wonderful it must be for you Tara and John to be able to provide these experiences for your boys. I really enjoy each project you undertake and how you prioritize so I am with you all the way. Love.

Absolutely Yes !!! One of God’s greatest gifts and mysteries to be explored to a little boys is puddles puddles and big rocks in the woods !! My mother used to put me on heavy, rainy days in my galoshes, my yellow slicker, rain jacket & and release me to the world outside my home… wooow ! I was very late for school because I was exploring the world that was meant for boys! And only arrived A few days each year in the spring !!!

My thoughts exactly. Being the mother of 2 boys, this type of weather is the best. Now i encourage muddy puddles with the grandchildren. Or walks along the beach when the waves are crashing, the wind is blowing and the storm clouds are rolling in. I love how Caruso is thinking it through also, and asking, "why is he not digging?" when they're first thinking about putting in the drain. OMG and Sawyer having to change his shoes in the first 5 minutes. Then bum first in the puddle. 😂 How exciting for him. Sawyer is also watching and thinking just like his big brother. I can't believe how fast the cobblers work. I get it was time lapsed yet their skill is amazing. Bless Mario's heart. He is the most wonderful neighbour. We could hug him through the screen. So happy and excited foryou all and so grateful to be along for the journey. ❤ 🇦🇺

How amazing to watch this work of art being created!! John, you are so right about Mario having the patience of a Saint! I can't even imagine the reaction you would get from someone here in Canada if you asked them to pause while something else gets done. They would probably say they were leaving and come back two weeks later! There is truly something lovely about the Portuguese people!❤

We had natural pavers in our driveway but had to remove them because every fall and winter they became too slippery; our driveway is also sloping (we've had some scary falls from guests and customers)! Natural pavers are stronger than industrial pavers and look good, but they are also more slippery.

Wow! It´s so much progress! These men are nailing it! That is absolutely hard work for the knees and backs! And with your projekts, you are helping the community and the locals by hiring such good people! To provide them coffee and croissants is such a nice gesture! I remember, in the old days, my parents allways gave the workers something to drink and snacks! That was normal! Nowadays it´s rare! John, don´t think too much about timing and you should have thought beforehand...it was right in time! Not too late! And like you said, it would have been worse, to notice it after finishing! So everything is alright! Not to mention how lucky the boys are! ...not everyone has a "digger sleep over"!😉🤣 Beautiful episode!

Your driveway is a beautiful piece of art and the gentlemen laying it are craftsmen for sure. My Grandfather was a stonemason and built many dry stone walls around North Wales, an art in itself - he was still working well into his 70’s so I’ve been told, and actually did a lot of the stonework on the old Mersey Tunnel. Love that these traditions are carried on, you will have that driveway for many, many years to come, and yes it does look like the Millennium Falcon 👍🏻. Many kind thoughts from Vancouver Island 🇨🇦

Great video on the driveway progress. Love the cobblestone work. Tara thank you for mentioning to everyone to see a dermologist about skin cancer. I have been doing this yearly and each year the dr removes pre-cancerous spots on the top of my head as a result of not wearing a hat and suntanning during my youth and young adult days. John as project manager you will find hundreds of situations where you have to change direction in a project during the phases. You were right and lucky to have picked up on the potential drainage problem and putting in a drainage pipe. I say luckily because it only took less than an hour to resolve. I have been on tech projects where weeks were lost because a change had to be done during a project. Great pickup. Sawyer is really growing up fast and taking on his own little personality. And he too loves the machinery just like his brother and dad. We enjoyed this one.

Originally I saw the idea with a traditional looking fountain - but that might not work so well with vehicles 😉. It’s amazing what the imagination can do. How beautiful is that cobbling? Such a beautiful tradition. Tara is so right - the Portuguese should be proud of that skill. Yes, I agree regarding the check up if you have something dodgy skin-wise. My husband had a strange mole which disappeared. It was (we found out much, much later) cancerous. Although it went, it moved to his kidneys. Once discovered, it was untreatable. He passed away shortly thereafter. This is NOT a pity party on my part, just a warning. I will say that he was very upbeat under the circumstances, he even requested that "Firestarter" by The Prodigy be played at his cremation service... whacked out sense of humour, too!

Your two boys remind me of mine when they were that age and how Sawyer will always emulate his big brother. Very special. Re John and his sun damage - he might have a fair skin (like me). I have lived in Zim all my life, my skin type does not fare well with harsh sun. If you have in your garden, Aloe Vera is a natural, twice daily treatment. Must be applied fresh. Also I would recommend that John bin his favourite cap in favour of a proper sun hat. Not the most fashionable head wear, but soo much better. Sending hugs from Zim.

I can't believe the cobbles were all put in in one day? Awesome job and will look beautiful when it's all settled in and washed off. And speaking of washing off, wonder how many times a day the boys need it, lol! They are always the high-lite of your videos for this great grama who's youngest is already nine. Thank you for sharing your hearts with us!

Made me laugh when I first saw the trucks dumping what looked like snow as they do it in Canada 😂 That entry way road looks beautiful. Great John that you thought about putting that pipe in before they worked on the cobblestone there.

so amazing to watch old school tradesmen working , such a gorgeous road, Im lucky that a few odd streets in Scotland are still tradional old cobbles, bumpy and deadly slippy when wet, but simply lovely, and last hundreds of years

Your boys are just like my little man used to be! Wellies, muddy puddles, tractors and diggers were his idea of heaven 💙 He's all grown up now, 20 this year, and I do miss it, honestly so make the most of it. They grow up way too fast! The cobble driveway is just a thing of beauty💕
