The Most Mysterious Place I've Never Visited in Western Tibet; I Couldn't Imagine How this was Built

Tashi Delek!
Today, I will take you to Dungkar and Piyang, a place that is even more mysterious than the lost kingdom of Guge in western Tibet.
Located on the northern side of the Himalayas, Dungkoar and Piyang was founded at the beginning of the 10th century. However, in the 17th century, the whole kingdom and people disappeared overnight, just the same as what happened in the Guge Kingdom.
This time, I will take you to explore Dungkar and Piyang to feel the great Tibet civilization back to 1000 years ago.
Even though I was there, I couldn’t imagine how my ancestors built a kingdom of this scale in such an environment more than 1,000 years ago.
Besides the remains of the ancient kingdom and meditation caves, the most anticipated things here are the cave paintings, which have been around for thousands of years and were not discovered until the early 1990s.
The ancient cave paintings have much in common stylistically with the Silk Road caved murals of Dunhuang in Xingjiang. If you are interested in the early Tibetan and Silk Road art, this is really a place worth visiting.
Hope you enjoy my video as usual and may get more inspirations for your next trip to Tibet.
Thanks for supporting me. Every encouragement and sponsorship from you is the driving force for me to continue to shoot and explore beautiful Tibet. Fund me a cup of tea, a meal, a liter of oil, or a glass of beer, and I will continue to work hard to bring you more exciting videos.

I absolutely loved this. The earth gives us the canvas to leave our history behind. The paintings are phenomenal! The disappearance of the people may have been due to geological & weather event. It would be interesting to know if they sampled some of the paint used too make the paintings to find out the source. Someday sometime I would love to visit 💕
