Kim Kil-tae is clearly aware that the laws will just be gentle on him and not go to extremes when deliberating on his offenses. Despite being a predator, he knows what lengths he has to undergo to be able to receive a redemption arc for all the criminal wrongdoings he has ever committed.

In Australia rapists don't even get prison time. In some cases the victims have to move away so they don't get harassed. Not even CCTV footage of their acts is enough to put away these disgusting pigs. When a female comedian was raped and murdered the police said that she should not have been walking home alone at night. The victim blaming is just part of Australian police work. So many women get killed by their ex partners and both the police and government refuse to do anything about it. I have been to court before as a domestic violence victim and my case took less than 5 minutes and the judge didn't even look at me once or talk to me. The female judge just scolded my ex like a kid who did something naughty and didn't even acknowledge my existence. Then my ex's lawyer had the audacity to come up to me and say "Oh, he's not that bad. I've seen worse". The way women get treated in society and in the justice system is shameful.

In the U.S. it's a heavy crime it also depends on the state too. If SK wants to maintain a safe country then they need to stop being lenient to these sex offenders. It's crazy to me, do they not care about victims?

This is such an interesting case! As a Korean adoptee, it makes me so sad that he was consistently reminded of how he was found on the church steps through something like his name. Of course, I don't condone what he has done but the background of his story strikes a chord with me emotionally. Great insight and delivery on this one, Grace! Thanks for sharing this with us 🤍

SA all over is so lenient. It's disgusting. Also, Brock Turner r worded a passed out woman in a public park and was caught INSIDE her and got 6 months, only served 3 months. Then another person last name Turner r worded 5 teenagers when he was a teen. Found guilty of all 5 and got: 0 time, 8 months of probation.

No, Brock was not caught inside her. He never penetrated her, and she was not passed out. He didn't even have his clothes off. See, this is why women are so often disbelieved. You have no knowledge of that case at all, but you believe her anyway. Brock should never have gotten punishment. The girl - according to the testimony of everyone at the party - was the one initiating sexual contact. She kissed him. She asked to go to his apartment. They walked home and they both fell because they were drunk. He then pleasured her - he got nothing out of it himself. Would an R do that? She straight up LIED after the fact because she had a boyfriend. In fact, she didn't even lie - someone else wrote her testimony, the DA. Did you know any of that? Do you even care? Of course not. Well, if it ever happens to you I hope no one believes you. Just like no one believed Brock's testimony, or that of anyone else at that party.

I think either the Korean judges are learning from the judges in Taiwan or vis versa, I’ve been watching a lot of Taiwanese crime cases recently and the same ridiculous lenient sentencing are also happening in Taiwan that is pissing off everyone there including the police, the prosecutors, definitely the victims’ love ones also..

In Thailand, the laws automatically cut down on the sentence if the criminal confess. So, the professional criminals usually confess instantly once they were caught and got lighter sentences. On the other hand, sometimes innocent persons get caught and tried to fight for their justices and lost due to the miscarriage of justice (unfortunately that happen a lot in our country), got highest sentence because they did not confess.

Punishment for sexual assault in Singapore 🇸🇬 is up to 20 years along with fine and caning punishment. And for punishment for murder is death penalty or life imprisonment which the capital punishment for the perpetrators but if the perpetrators have some kind of mental illness or something he will be put in mental institution for treatment until their sentence , regardless law in Singapore is very strict when it comes with the safety and wellness of the citizens , and that’s why Singapore is one of the most safest country in the world for their strict law and harsh punishment, which im glad we are, Singapore also have very low crime

This is why the birth rate is tanking not only in SK but around the world. Why would we want to have children when it's so clear that the government and justice systems do not care about women and children? You want to pay us to have children but make the world dangerous for us. You treat victims like trash but perpetrators get more freedom and sympathy. We know these people reoffend almost always. Korea is notorious for small or 0 sentences. They can claim they were drunk and get lesser sentences. Minors can commit muгdег and do not face any consequences; and they know that. Stalking and sеж crimes get as little as $16 equivalent fines. Why would perpetrators ever stop when nothing happens to them? The law enable them. It's so sad.

It seems like there's way too much victim blaming that has influence in the SK laws and system. This is why predators and violent offenders get a slap on wrist and it sounds like they're almost protected because "rehabilitation" and there are some people who are driven by hurting others every chance they get. They know the system in and out by getting caught and released. It was like this in some towns in Europe and Australian - just crazy. This reminds me of Peter Dupas, who kept re-offending in Melbourne. I feel for the victims.

Its literally so funny how in courtroom kdramas everything is so cool how the dashing lawyers solve complicated cases and the criminals get punished but in reality Korea's Judicial system is a JOKE. Like wdym a repeat offender gets 8 YEARS IN JAIL?? and then he's out?? A person who committed sexual assualt or a murderer gets this but someone smoking or having a DUI will face worse consequences than them??

While you so called re-educate, the victim is forever scarred or dead. Excuse me, maybe it might work for theft or self defense cases. But to do any such act requires a level of narcissistic attitude, or worse. You cannot change a foundational mindset already fixed. Wasting such a life is the best thing you can do.

Yea if you SA someone it's about 25 to 30 yrs in jail(it depends which state the crime happen etc.) But kidnapping/holding someone against their will it's another maybe 10 to 15 years so in total it be about 35 to 40 Years in jail in the United States Oh and another thing if someone SA someone then your Have to register as a sex offender in the state/national sex offender registry and your not allowed to be near ANYWHERE where children are present like parks, malls or schools in the US the states that have the strongest laws about it etc. The states are Colorado, Utah, Texas and California they are some of states have the most SA or sex trafficking states etc. But yea in the US for all those crimes he would have a sentence of either 35 years or life or if he did that in certain states it's the death penalty
