I've been practicing the Primary Series for almost a year now and Urdhva Mukha Paschimattanasana was basically the only asana I couldn't do properly. After watching your video and trying just now I finally was able to come up with straight legs, entering and finishing the pose correctly. Thank you very much! You are a great teacher and your videos are extremely helpful. Please keep it up!

Hi Ethan! Thank you for sharing. Love the way you approach it. I would loooove to see a video about bandhas. This is so important and there's so little material about it. Please, share it with us! Thanks!

Thank you so much. Really useful. Looking forward to trying this later as I also struggle with this. Had been modifying in all the ways you describe and now realise that has been counterproductive to my progression all these years. I have just discovered your channel and I am finding your detailed explanation of technique hugely helpful.

Great! May you make a video for detailed instruction of bandha as well? I am myself still a bit confused to understand bandha as squeezing the muscles to lock it

Great explanation, thanks Ethan :) I am able to roll up, but I struggle with bringing my legs and chest together and balancing there. Any advice on that? Would love to see a video on how to improve that!

Hi Ethan, I guess another most underappreciated and glossed-over asana would be Baddha Konasana (2nd variation). I have to say, I don't quite get the point of it or its connnection to the 1st variation, physiologically speaking. If you're interested, it'd be nice of you to post a video on that : )

I'm a beginner, how long would it take for me to achieve this pose?

It varies. I wouldn’t be able to tell you without seeing you. Practice in a traditional mysore class so the teacher can guide your progress individually. Wishing you well⚡️

Crazy how I just happened upon this! I was just practicing yesterday with my teacher and I mentioned, “ look how pitiful my urdva mukha paschimottasana is! It must be due to my proportions with legs much longer than arms”. Of course I realize this is likely an excuse and the issue is probably a combination of neglect and poor technique. Thank you for giving this pose some attention!

Just to follow up. I tried these techniques today and rolled up into it without bending my knees! Sometimes my body is ready but not doing the correct technique. Thanks Ethan!
