It is very strange. Only thing I can think of it is children that REALLY like them. Look up "Satisfying Videos" on youtube they get a scary amount of views

@@grimaa I actually enjoyed the first one I played because I had never see this in Mario maker. What was very annoying was that every body was making the same lvl after that. The original refreshing lvl is not the problem it's the unoriginal copy we got after

More likely just benefitting temporarily from the level recommendation algorithm. It's a rewarding, zero-effort experience the first time through, so the first few people randomly encounter, they're most likely to like. The algorithm essentially worked like the media normally does in propagating a fad. Like any fad, we're seeing them go away now because almost everyone's seen them and is bored with them.

i made one of those "get this to super expert" levels once, and i gave exactly enough coins (using big coins n stuff) so that you could go from any coin count to 99 (so next level youre more likely to get a 1up right away)

@@badmanjones179 yeah I found a level with a checkpoint on a blue platform that puts you in about quite quick. And I left it overnight and got about 6k+ deaths on it also do SMB3 theme so that it loads faster with the death theme

Coffin Dance is a good song, and a good theme. It's about celebrating life and a fond farewell from friends, instead of mourning a death and a bitter departure. If I wasn't already set on being cremated and having my ashes dumped somewhere (or made into a diamond, not sure yet) then I'd totally dig that style of funeral.

Refreshing levels, to me, are sort of like the music levels that don't have gameplay. It's not meant to be gameplay, it's more like an art piece. Feels like they should get a different categorization section. They are neat to look at and anyone can access them so the popularity makes sense, frustrating though it may be.

I feel like there’s a glitch or something because I keep seeing levels that have only 100 or 200 likes in the #1 spot and then all the ones with THOUSANDS of likes in second

It’s based on the like/play ratio. The more likes per play the levels have, the better they’ll be placed. Levels with 6000 plays and 600 likes have a 1/10 like/play rate, while levels with 20 likes and 70 plays have a 1/3.5 like/play rate, so the level with 20 likes will be higher on popular than the one with 600 likes. (The one with 600 likes probably won’t even be on popular). Actually, the one with 20 likes could potentially be 1st on popular (I had a level with 17 likes get #1 on popular once).

I beat that first precision level Sunday as well. It was awesome. Love me some precision. Although I'm a joystick player so I'm not all that good at precision but that level flowed nicely. I like that creator. 💙😇 I hate refreshing levels btw, good thing they aren't ever expert or super expert.
