I knew a couple of men at Long Beach City College who in 1974 made a crossbow out of automobile leaf springs laminated together; it used a hydraulic system to cock the bow and then they demonstrated it in our archery class. The bolt went through about 18" of concrete wall material and was dangerous to shoot. If the bow was to break it would kill the shooter; I didn't shoot it. Nice demonstration. Once I get a new knee replacement I would like to try the bike.

Electromagnetic energy can send a metal arrow up to 1/10th the speed of light and potentially turn all hazardous asteroids and comets to clouds of vaporized material while they are still beyond Mars orbit. We just need a large enough battery and rails that can handle the amount of energy needed.

@BlueSkyCountry
@BlueSkyCountry 6 ай бұрын
@@Scout887 With new solid state batteries being developed, that might just be possible in the near future. If you can integrate a laptop battery sized pack generating up to a 1000 amp / 800 volt burst, and an inert gas injector to push a steel arrow between the accelerating rail so the arrow does not weld to the rail and cause a short circuit, you can get that arrow not only up to several thousand feet per second, but part of the bolt would be vaporized to a near plasma state, penetrating even the armor of light APCs and fighting vehicles. That kind of weapon will bring back the era of "cold weaponry" ie., pre-firearm, but now powered by electromagnetic energy. Perfection of that tech will revolutionize space travel as well. If giant electromagnetic catapults could be constructed, freight and passengers could be shuttled between the planets and moons of the Solar System with the ships only needing enough fuel for orbital and reentry maneuvers upon arrival. Colonies on Mars, and the Jovian moons will be a reality.

I have the aventon level. I've got nearly 2k miles on it since last November. I ride at least 12mi a day going to and from work. The 45mi range is in perfect factoring conditions. It depends on your pas (pedal assist) setting, weight, and the grade of your trip. Using full power pas5 I can get about 18mi out of one charge. I average about 25mph, but have hit up to 32mph at times. Throttle only will get you 20mph, pas1 will get you 10mph, pas2 15mph, pas3 20mph, pas4 24mph, pas5 28 If you use it a lot, I highly suggest getting a second battery, that way you always have one ready to go. I've forgotten to charge mine before and was grlad I had the spare or I'd have been late for work.

@puppergump4117
@puppergump4117 10 ай бұрын
Wood is really good at biting things. Maintenance for most shields required a special oil and leather as well to make sure arrows couldn't penetrate. With this type of crossbow it might go through 2 of the Roman shields. As for the iron shields, maybe one. This crossbow might grant many advantages to someone but it won't be decisive. It takes too long to load so it's like the riflemen of the 1700s. Its biggest advantage is range and accuracy, but you won't be able to pull off anything a modern sniper can only 200-300 feet away. I would personally recommend just a single m1 Abrams MBT. It can just sit there and nothing can really hurt it. And you can always run over people who try to mess with you. The .50 would go through at least 5 or 6 shields before the bullet's deflected away and the main cannon would likely go through everything.

Broadheads actually have some very advanced abilities to cut through all kinds of stuff. It would hypothetically be better to have a dedicated point to penetrate stuff like this, but nobody makes that because it's not a realistic use case. So target tips are designed for target practice and don't really penetrate well, while broadheads are designed to cut through as much bone and muscle as possible, therefore penetrating better than the narrower tips despite more surface area. That said, there's a huge difference between a cheap broadhead and an expensive one.

Dang, brother! You need to be more careful with those jams. And I was concerned about ricochet. Anyway, I love your videos. You guys have fun and it comes through to your viewers. Keep up the good work and be safe.

Thanks for the content as always Edwin. It is a sad reflection on our society when you have to add the disclaimer "You should never shoot at the police"...

Looks like a Remington model 11 Sportsman. My great grandfather had a couple of them we kept in the family. Both are his were from the 1930s but could have been made anywhere between about 1905 and the 1940s.

Yes you have to pull the cylinder out to reload it but you should put the hammer and a half cocked position to clear the firing pin so that sooner slides in and out easily in the groove on the top is your site
