For more 4K space, and more great History and Science than you'll ever watch, check out our sister network... www.magellantv...
All across the immense reaches of time and space, energy is being exchanged, transferred, released, in a great cosmic pinball game we call our universe.
How does energy stitch the cosmos together, and how do we fit within it? We now climb the power scales of the universe, from atoms, nearly frozen to stillness, to Earth's largest explosions. From stars, colliding, exploding, to distant realms so strange and violent they challenge our imaginations. Where will we find the most powerful objects in the universe?
Today, energy is very much on our minds as we search for ways to power our civilization and serve the needs of our citizens. But what is energy? Where does it come from? And where do we stand within the great power streams that shape time and space?
Energy comes from a Greek word for activity or working. In physics, it's simply the property or the state of anything in our universe that allows it to do work. Whether it's thermal, kinetic, electromagnetic, chemical, or gravitational.
The 19th-century German scientist Hermann von Helmholtz found that all forms of energy are equivalent, that one form can be transformed into any other. The laws of physics say that in a closed system - such as our universe - energy is conserved. It may be converted, concentrated, or dissipated, but it's never lost.
James Prescott Joule built an apparatus that demonstrated this principle. It had a weight that when descended into water caused a paddle to rotate. He showed that the gravitational energy lost by the weight is equivalent to heat gained by the water from friction with the paddle. That led to one of several basic energy yardsticks, called a joule. It's the amount needed to lift an apple weighing 100 grams one meter against the pull of Earth's gravity.
In case you were wondering, it takes about one hundred joules to send a tweet, so tweeted a tech from Twitter. The metabolism of an average-sized person, going about their day, generates about 100 joules a second, or 100 watts, the equivalent of a 100-watt light bulb.
In vigorous exercise, the power output of the body goes up by a factor of ten, one order of magnitude, to around a thousand joules per second, or a thousand watts. In a series of leaps, by additional factors of ten, we can explore the full energy spectrum of the universe.
ABOUT US
Here at SpaceRip, we value the exploration of the unknown. We surpass boundaries for the sake of uncovering the mysteries of the cosmos and what they may tell us about our origin and our future. With our videos, we hope to educate our viewers on how we fit into the universe, and more so how we can do our part to better it.
We have partnered with MagellanTV with the goal of providing our viewers with insight regarding our uncertain future on Earth and beyond. Equipped with knowledge, we hope to inspire people to enact change and pave the way for a better tomorrow.

Dick Rodstein's immaculate narration is such a relief after suffering through legions of mumbling or machine-gun-speed attempts in so many documentaries today, many of them otherwise offering excellent content. I wish Mr. Rodstein's delivery could be the standard for voiceover content! I'm sure the production company made the decision to provide this wonderful bonus, and I'm grateful to Mr. Lucas for that.

Actually, they are revolving around a common centre. This centre while still inside the sun, is NOT the sun's absolute centre. If you take a planet as big and far away as Jupiter, then this centre they are revolving around, is actually outside of the sun's surface. So to be correct, you'd have to say, they are both revolving around their common centre of gravity.

From what I read black holes are very dense objects where space and time are so warped that nothing can escape from their gravitational pull.
@medexamtoolscom
@medexamtoolscom 5 жыл бұрын
"Very dense" isn't exactly accurate. What they are, is mass in its purest, most nondescript and most compacted form. But in fact they may be very low in density. A black hole with 10 billion times the mass of the sun or 1.99 x 10^40 kg has a diameter of 59 billion kilometers. Which makes for a density of...... 185 grams per cubic meter. Less than 1/5000 the density of water, or 1/10 the density of air at sea level. 1.99 x 10^40 kg in 1.075 * 10^41 cubic meters of volume doesn't make for a very high density. In fact, the mass density of the entire observable universe borders on the critical density for a black hole of that mass. Which seems like a very strange coincidence, especially since the universe was a lot denser just a few billion years ago.

Hold up so a human has a 1000 watt output during vigorous exercise but a car only has 20,000? So a car is only 20 times as powerful as a human? What? (Or should I say, "watt?")
@qcislander
@qcislander 9 жыл бұрын
No. 20,000 watts is barely over 26 horsepower. A typical car outputs far more than five times that much power... i.e. way more than 100 humans working as hard as they possibly can.

★ 4ever Pixelated ★ Gravity is not pulling them, as it can't, since they have no mass (duh) BUT gravity from the black hole is so strong it is pulling the space which the light beam exists in into its core FASTER then the light beam can move into new space, therefor it gets dragged in. Once it passes the event horizon, it becomes impossible for the light beam to enter space which can ever exist outside of the black hole.

★ 4ever Pixelated ★ Might want to understand the escape velocity. For example, Earth is going around the sun at certain speed that keeps it in orbit instead of being dragged ever closer to it. The escape velocity of the black hole is the speed of light, meaning that light pulled (or space with light pulled) warps around the black hole changing its direction . This forms the event horizon. Once pass the event horizon, moving into the hole is inevitable!

How you come to such a narrow conclusion is beyond me. This is just another aspect of his beautiful creation . We are just beginning to understand some of it with the new scientific instruments.. Religion and science do not have to exclude each other.
@Surfer7901
@Surfer7901 10 жыл бұрын
Aries2012100: You say "gosh the world is beautiful, complex, dynamic and scientifically explainable". Yes! It may well be, but the final explanation of meaning and purpose? Material science can NEVER answer that. So what is its purpose, and what is YOUR purpose? JESUS The Christ said that you have both a present purpose and a destiny; loved by him, and forever, one day to live with him, in perfect peace. You were not created for nothing, and you do have a unique purpose. THE DEFINITION OF SCIENCE AT THE STRICTEST LEVEL MEANS 'KNOWLEDGE' - all of it; which includes the getting of WISDOM. Mankind Loves to put God in a box and say "That's religion". But God cannot be put in a box; He is the maker of the ENTIRE UNIVERSE. He is there, and He is NOT silent. He HAS spoken to us by his Son, and (BY THE WAY) he says that he made the stars, the sun -our star, and Earth in all of its glorious beauty. You who put God in a little box and throw the key away, remember that Jesus holds the key to your real life, the life he wants you to be able to enjoy. And if you lock him out of your life, he will come back and knock on the door again, in friendship "BEHOLD, I STAND AT THE DOOR AND KNOCK: If any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. " (Revelation ch 3, v 20). NOW is the time to receive him into your life, and he will receive you, when we turn from all that is wrong our our lives and 'repent'.

As of late 2015, the LIGO collaboration, after 5 decades of preparation, has for the first time of humankind history detected the gravitational wave from black hole merger event. The wave lasted about one second, but has traveled billions of years across the empty space before reaching us.

soviets wanted to detonate a 100MT hydrogen bomb, but they were afraid that the fallout would reach continental Russia, so they capped it to 50MT. Yet, it was the most powerful nuclear device ever detonated

The gigantic massive and maybe the most important difference is that in science, when a person doesn't know something, he or she tries to theorize and actually discover it, and if that person still doesn't know, he or she will just say "I don't know". In religion, the person believes all the answer is already there in his or her faith and he doesn't have to look for it, just have to believe it, and if asked he or she will say "I know the answer, it's in my god" when actually they don't know it.

What would a level 3 civilization do with the total energy output of a galaxy then? Transport? Heating their pools? What unscientific conjectural nonsense.

actually,God is not a being per se,but a FORCE...you can find this theory even in the old books,written by philosophers (Kirkegaard for example)- they stated that God is a LIFE FORCE and INTELLIGENCE,THAT'S what rules the universe. And it makes perfect sense to me..

"God is nothing more than something to give you false hope" I Never knew that "God" Gave you any type of hope, neither in my commen't did i speak of "God" I Spoke that The big bang is just a theory that seems the best scientificly explanation for how the world got created, and the way the can proove that the big bang is true is too get a telescope that good to see that far into the past we we havent managerd that so that is the best theory we have and we go by it.
