I always thought it was pretty cold-blooded and callous that Johnson wanted to be sworn in before he even left Texas on the ground I don't think that was probably procedure especially after the events that happened already

I used to go here all the time when I was little. It’s an amazing place! So much history, the presidential planes are so cool to see. They even have Roosevelt’s wheelchair. At least it was there when I last went 6 years ago. I definitely recommend going! It’s so worth it

Loved the small piece here on Bob Hope.. He was a down to earth celebrity..very friendly. My daughter was a classmate of one of Hope's Security Chiefs in charge of his security details years ago. One day the two young girls were sitting in the kitchen of Hope's Toluca Lake home when Hope and some of his staff came in and they said he came over and sat down and talked with them for a few. They said he was so nice and laughed a lot and told them jokes.

Wonderful. Enjoyed seeing all the planes but of course The images of what took place on the plane returning JFK to Washington are sealed in my brain. It was good to have a sense of being inside the plane. Also appreciated the tribute to Bob Hope. He sure did a lot to help our troops. Belinda Davis

This Air Force Brat thoroughly enjoyed your tour through this museum, as I never got to see it previously, so thank you so much 😊. My dad flew the big plane that you walked through in the first vlog. He took us kids up into the cockpit. When he retired in ‘65, he was offered to fly Air Force One, but chose to go to Laos to fly for Air AMERICA instead. I never really thought about it, but that would have been the very plane that Kennedy’s body was flown on !! It’s great to have seen inside it, along with you 😲🥰

So awesome Jordan thank you! Loved the Kennedy era. I was five years old when he was killed. My dad was at work on the railroad and my mom was at home with us. My twin sister and I were watching cartoons on our floor console black and white Zenith t.v. When Walter Cronkite interrupted the programming and came on the t.v. and said "the flash apparently official John F. Kennedy..." My mom grabbed our baby sister and ran to our neighbours to tell them of the shooting, leaving us in front of the t.v. to wonder what happened. That memory will be itched in my mind for as long as I live. Long live Camelot!

I was born at WPAFB, in 1956. In early 60s we were stationed at Clark AFB in the Philiippines. Bob Hope did a show and we went. I would guess it was a stop after or before he went to Vietnam. I was 7 yrs old.

That entire museum is such a fascinating place, it was a 'bucket list' item for us when we went in 2011 on our way to a wedding, but I'd highly suggest/recommend checking it out & plan on spending the entire day, if not two. Yes, the Presidential planes section was my favorite ;) I have heard though that they put up a new building since 2011, so clearly they have a new display layout for this section, the planes themselves are truly impressive, I'd make the trip to go through them again in a heartbeat. In the book 'Death of a President', there is a diagram of the way the plane was laid out during Kennedy's administration. I printed a copy of it so I could get a 'comparison' picture of the diagram under the one they currently have of the way it is now to show how it had been changed. I wish KZbin would allow photos in the comments so I could post them.

I don't know if you have ever used the saying, "some hope, no hope, or Bob Hope." Interesting seeing inside the plane's, from the early ones, being basic, to the later ones a bit more luxurious, yet still basic compared with today's plane's.
