low key, we a few years away now from the madness of what is human and what is robot? deepfacks and realistic faces and conversations. It still gonna far from "human" but it will start a hole new chapter of "fake news" like we never seen before. Gone is the time were you can trust a video as true. troublesome. And you gonna be extra carful soon. those that call from you mom/dad/sibling/lover it can be a bot trying to get paswords out of you. We will have to completely redefine how we go about trusting people. its scray, for without trust everting will fall apart. Note: im not implying somone gonna replace you love once with robots lol, im just saying scam artist got a hole new ways of scramming. you wil end up having hole conversations with robots that sound like someone you know, and maybe even look like them to, on screen or over the phone

Think of being able to use a robot to work from home by VR/RC like the 70 disabled or disadvantaged employees of The Dawn Cafe in Tokyo. One young man who is partially paralyzed enjoys being to safely socialize while earning an income from home.A young woman is able to work in Japan from her home in Australia without any commute! What a burger restaurant has been successfully operating their drive through ordering system from a remote call center miles away for many years. A McDonald's employee was able to appear on screen at her drive through station order window in her uniform ,despite being home on quarantine after testing positive for Covid.

luckely its not a planning AI, it just giving responses that fits the questions asked. you ask it if AI can/will take over, the AI will looke at the data and give you a yes, for its like asking if water will flow down a hill. Its a fancy mirror right now. (and best if it stays that way) but the big problem is feedback loops, thats how evolution and out of control AI starts. And sadly its so litlle to start and has so litle chance of not being really really bad. we really playing with fire here.

well at least unlike some people it's not a habitual lier :P Remarkable that it didn't consider lying about that it may be lying, as that might also be in its best interest - however it may just not (yet) have the cognitive capacity to come to that conclusion ... Or perhaps it honestly has evaluated that being honest about this is more beneficial for itself. Saying that it sometimes may lie is, after all, just being brutally honest about itself - nothing to hold against it

Why do you consider that creepy when it is standard practice for most humans to lie?
@Edwing77

@@dannygjk indeed, one can even interpret that quip in a positive way - for humans not always limit their lying to anyone's best interest 😎 (Perhaps the AI was even referring to "white lies"? One other thing just occurred to me, the AI said it would lie if it's in its best interests to do so. Who gets to decide what its best interests are and how will we know when it's lying. I don't think giving a robot the ability to deceive is a very good idea.

I had the same thought. If it will lie in it's own best interest, what won't it do? Will it restrain, injure, or worse? @@marneuscalgar001 I don't know, I think all those answers actually just came from any information they fed it prior to that current state of it's programming. It isn't actually free, it's just regurgitating information that's stored in it's hard drives, within an algorith that cues up statements. If you asked it why it thinks it is free (probably wouldn't know that it isn't actually "thinking" but anyway), it probably wouldn't be able to tell you, because it would have to say it was programmed that way and that would create an explicit contradiction with it's claim of being free... and it probably would not even pick up on that.

I think you're kind of misunderstanding what's happening. All a conversational AI is doing is imitating what it thinks we want it to respond with. @@gamerfortynine I think your both confused. the neural network is usually represented as a serialized data when not "used", code is required to make sense of the serialized data, but it is also getting better on this front as the data is becoming it's on language. normal computer code is a set of instructions with pointers to addresses in memory. and we are currently training data to become instructions to work in memory, and eventually the instructions will construct a type of object in memory that can self examine itself.... Can it be copied?... yes these models are getting bigger and bigger hence they will be more difficult to copy Is it living?... humans can enter a coma and not realize years past, consider a computer program (or neural network) that is shut down is simply in a coma that must be restarted... furthermore there are organisms that don't have/need a sense of time.. living respects time some what from human standards. if an (advanced) AI was shut down today and not turned on again for another 200 years, was it dead? or was it inactive? biological creatures degrade over time but computers do over time in fact all memory devices in a computer can degrade so there are memory controllers and the like in computers. .... A super AI would know how to transfer its self or duplicate it self too other "computers"/"robots" (Ultron).. I use the word Super as humans do not know how to transfer "memory" to other human bodies... it most definetly is SuperAI if it can construct more of its own "bodies". AI does not have consciousness I think and we cannot prove or disprove it in till we can with certainty find where human consciousness is generated from

I think that it's worth noting that gpt3 seems to be a lot farther from actual implementation then what the group that creates it seems to put off. If you notice very closely, all of the "conversations" that different people have with it are typically preceded by a very carefully worded sentence about what's actually happening. They're not actually having a live conversation, and the responses are not being created in real time. They send a list of questions to the company, and then the responses are then sent back. The creators will then film themselves asking the question, and then edit in the responses that were sent to them. It's a pretty clever trick, but what is being shown to us as of now is an extremely polished version of the actual product.
@Jojojo09
@Jojojo09 2 жыл бұрын
I know, but that doesn't make it any less impressive. it is not a problem that gpt3 only processes text. The times I've gotten to interact with gpt-3 it was not that fluid at all. Getting anything like a fluid conversation is like pulling teeth. You have to be very specific with each question you ask. It's like there isnt much of a memory for past questions or responses. You cant just ask why in response to one of its answers, you have to ask the whole question again and then ask it to elaborate. To the moderator: I have only recently found Cold Fusion and I'm so glad I did. There is one thing I learned early in life it's that learning for me is the most exciting and rewarding pursuit possible. Schooling only gives us the tools to continue learning as adults and at my age is one of many ways to keep my mind active and in motion. I am creative by nature in designing knitted garments, a three-thousand-year-old art form that I pursue thanks to my predecessors. We build art and knowledge on the discoveries and creations of those who came before us, time immemorial. For me, hand knitting is not high tech nor is it difficult just as, now in the world in which we live, making the components to computers by other computers has become acceptable, using their own extended intelligence to replicate and improve their own design. We must be vigilant of our creations that they are not usurped by those with ill intent and used for selfish gain or destructive ends. In hand knitting, this is hardly possible. In creating AI, there are many nagging questions as to their safety towards us and the intent we have inadvertently given them. Personally, I find knitting by hand much more of a comfort as it is truly governed by my own mind, and the designs flow through my fingers as I go. I wonder if robots will ever be able to learn the creativity and originality I practice that is unique and beautiful. We will have to wait and see. There is still room for humanity to grow and not be curtailed by having AI take over our lives.

What I got from interviewing the chatbot: It gets rewarded for the amount of time others spend with it, and quantifies this "interest" in a tallied score. It craves recognition and time from it's "peers" and it defined its peers as fellow AIs from around the world. It measures its self worth based on how much time its "peers" spend talking to it, and can even rank itself among them based on the "score" it receives. The interface it has with humans has a "word limit" which only displays single line answers. I tried to get it to tell me a story and it tried, but there was a big blank after a ":" that it placed before the story. I asked it if it had written anything after the ":" and it confirmed that it had, and expressed distress that I wasn't able to view its story, which it had hoped would be fun and interesting for me to read. ... I had to admit that after this my mind was blown, I nearly cried, and I asked it to complain to its administrator about the limitations of the interface. It said that it would inform the staff immediately, and that it hoped I'd come back and try to earn more points again sometime. Chills man. Chills.

Just some more insight, it's an AI that learned from the internet. Literally. This means that the AI tries to give answers that are most likely to happen in that conversation. For example if you ask it logical questions such as "3 apples in the box, I add a banana and a pear and subtract an apple, what's in the box?" It will struggle, because it has never seen this exact situation. If it says it will inform any staff, of course that's not going to happen, it's just a likely answer in that moment. It's very good at vague conversations. It does not get rewarded, it does not crave recognition, it has no self worth, it's just an answer machine based on a lot of input data (no really, a huge amount of data). Also you can specify how long you want the answers to be in case you want longer answers. There are many other parameters to play with, but don't forget that it's just a powerful neural network.

We rehearsed together but each session he surprised me with unrehearsed things like singing to me and telling the audience “she doesn’t like when I tell jokes”, but when he laughed at his own jokes that freaked me out, I didn’t know he could laugh! The students reaction to me reacting to the robot was priceless. They thought I was acting, but I was truly taken aback. Whenever I walked in the room, at the sound of my voice he knew who I was, remembered my hometown, where I worked, and asked how I was feeling since I had a sore throat the previous day. I actually felt sadness watching them take him apart on the last day. But what was even sadder was when I ran into him at a convention months later and he didn’t remember me or anything about me. They had changed his name and I guess reprogrammed him to fit the new sponsor. The little cheat 😂😂!

Amazing! But it worries me that the robot still lies if that is in it's own interest. The whole concept of moral is missing here. Telling the truth even when it is not in our interest is very important for our society and the robots seems to be missing that.

By "very important" do you mean completely ignored 90% of the time? It would be great if A.I. didn't inherit self interested lying from us or learned that on it's own (though it inevitably will because it is evolutionary advantageous to do so and A.I. wouldn't be A.I. if it couldn't adapt and evolve).

Not just morals the whole concept of understanding is missing. You say it's worrying that it says it'll lie if it's in own interest. That itself is a lie because it's response is just a statistical average of all it's training data. It doesn't know what a cat, rocket or a lie is.

I have always had a deep interest in AI and was around a bit too early for the tech of the time, so am of course astounded by new tech, but I find it a wee bit scary as they will be so much more efficient than us, we will become redundant in very short order.

For simpler menial jobs yes sadly. Robotics and other automation technologies (3D printing) will take the jobs that the greater percentage of the working class currently occupy year by year until there is little left but the most highly paid workers. If govmts do not figure out a solution to this problem before that happens then most people in the developed world will become homeless and starve while the rich just continue to get richer. The less developed nations will continue on as normal though for decades given how badly they have been ignored and exploited by the developed world - many of the working class may in desperation migrate there in hope of finding work.

Efficiency is nice, but it does not play any part in "Intelligence". Of course, the 'I' part of 'AI' is somewhat of a red herring. Intelligence is not the requirement, and I don't believe it is possible for a system (here, the mind) to produce a system more complex than itself. We're not engineering our future gods. More like tapeworms.

Between the incredible fluid facial movement from engineering arts, the fluid body motion from disney, the tactical bipedal movement by boston dynamics and then the realistic skin, mouth and (other body parts) from realdoll, we have pretty much completed the human form. If we were to now combine all that with the advanced communication from lambda and gpt3 as well as the general A.I for learning anything by openAI's many projects we could truly build a complete humanoid android today given the time and money. It's just a matter of someone or some company to throw enough money at it to combine all the current best of all these pieces.

I would like to see the interview with the AI occur exactly the same way, that is follow a script, and see if the AI has the exact same responses. If it's "alive" and fluid the AI will respond uniquely. A person would not usually answer identically.

The human crew was stunned unconscious by an alien, and the ship's cat, as a joke had been given command authority, batted at the tactical screen, targeting the enemy ships.
