Liam, even the tour pros have up and down rounds. Check with your instructor but when you take the club to far inside on the backswing you push or slice to the right. You were right on keeping your hands low. A drill I give my students is putt the butt end of the club in the center of the chest and turn to the right knee lower the shaft so it is parallel over your toes. Now extend your arms and right thumb goes to right shoulder. Check with your instructor. Good luck.

Liam I feel your pain. I’ve been taking lessons now for five weeks started out great, dropped my handicap down to six. But my last five rounds have been 12 to 18 over par back to my old bad habits. Had a lesson yesterday played an round shot a four over par, happy days life is life. The new polos are absolutely brilliant 👍👍⛳️🏌️🇨🇦

I find Liam that I can hit 30 great shots and it only takes one bad shot to lose the confidence, confidence is everything in this game. Some days as a 7hcp I can swing so freely and other days I’m frozen over the ball and can hardly take the club back. My favourite saying with my golf swing is Paralysis by Analysis. Cheers mate. Oh and keep up the great work with the channel, loving the longer videos and Joes filming and seeing the boys a lot more on the channel again.

I've started taking lessons (for the first time in years). After two lessons I was striking the ball so well. I had 4 good rounds in the following week. The last two rounds I've slipped back into something approaching my old swing and played awful. I couldn't fix it whatever I tried. I have another lesson tomorrow. I bet he has it sorted inside 5 minutes.

Thanks for posting this, Liam. I'm just in my 3rd year now, and I was buzzing that I hit an 87 in an amateur comp 2 weeks ago. Also hit a -1 on an easy 9 hole course. I thought that it was all finally coming together. Then it just disappeared. All of it. Hit a 108 in a comp on Friday. All I could do was laugh and not be too down about it. Went out and practiced yesterday and things looked a little better. So, this comes at the right time for me. Life is life! Ups and downs are normal, both for new players and top 8 caddies!

Your so kind i'm a 26 handicapper and you are making me feel good with your slightly erratic ways. More can wrong with golf than any other game. But i enjoy fresh air and tranquility, the most people we get on our course is probably 5 people a day during the week - except comp days that's about 30. More in summer though.

Your defo over thinking it Liam, ( we all do it) when having a few head wobble moments I think smooth back smooth through and imagine a line going through the ball to target to maintain shot path and just look at back of the ball, and front of ball for woods and driver 👍🏻it really helps me and sorts my head out 👍🏻🏌🏻♂️⛳️

Liam, that's completely relatable. I have played 9 holes like a pro and come out and play the back like I've never had a club in my hand before. That's golf. I have had the flip side of that also, playing terrible, and for no reason it all suddenly comes together. Hopefully that will happen for you on your comp. Best of luck.

Totally relatable. Never a truer word spoken. Had my best score there at chorlton on the sunday and then 3 days later I was 18 shots worse. Oh forgot to add Liam. I use a Garmin G6 handheld GPS for the distances to greens. It gives the distance to the middle of the green from wherever you are on the hole. It has a feature you can push on the little picture of the green and then it gives the front, middle and back distances for approach shots. I love the thing. The newer G8 can also be used as a launch monitor and show swing speed and club face angle and such as well if that interests you. Definitely worth a look if you don't like watches.

I feel your pain 😬 I've been changing my swing for a while. Cracked it on Monday after a lesson. Played Monday evening, best I've struck my irons for years; scored well despite multiple 3-putts. Played on Wednesday, lost my swing on the second hole, shanked the lights out of the round (from nowhere) and picked up after 13. I've enforced a break since then because I was bloody furious 😂

I feel your pain mate, this last fortnight I had a shocker of a round where one or two bad shots just continued throughout the round then the next weekend I played really well and thought I had corrected everything until I went out to the range last night and it all came crashing down again, but at least I figured a few things out before I left the range. Cheers for putting this video out there pal it just helps knowing that golf is not always great and that you have to take the bad with the good sometimes.

Liam, I have to say this for me is one of your best videos ever. Your comments are so true as golf is all about momentum so if you hit a few good ones early on you tend to mostly play ok. However if you hit some dodgy ones early you seem to be fighting it for the whole round. Great video had me laughing a lot. I am thinking 80 Saturday and 82 Sunday. Hope it goes better than that, good luck. Chicken and rice!

I suggest taking an extra club until you are hitting the ball too far. The approach wedge from 118 yards downwind and an 8-iron from 150 yards were too short. Those will be impressive shots with or without wind. I need to do the same. I'm getting the Shot Scope V3 watch which tracks distances for each club. I don't wear a watch but I am going to try this out to see if I can get better yardages on my clubs.

Too relatable mate. Spend 3 days on the range, feel confident about my swing, play a local course I’ve played all me life, and nothing is going my way. It’s that feeling when you walk up to the ball with no confidence and have no clue what’s going to happen. Worst feeling ever off of the tee

Liam ...lock your left elbow...don't let your elbow bend at the end of your swing , that lets your club hand rise , doing the around and over part. Limit your elbow motion and make up for it by swiveling at the waist ...Try it once or twice ...you might like it. Glad to see you are finally getting in a practice swing !! Well done..good 👍 luck on your tourney....!

In the spring of 2019 I had a few lessons from a friend who's a good swinger, and can hit it far, but has a hard time with the putter. He had me hitting the ball fairly well, and I was looking forward to continuing with his assistance during a visit to his area in the fall of 2019 . However, the roads were terrible in the mountains in the early fall, and before I could go after they improved, the pandemic started, and I stayed home instead. By the time the local course was open I had half forgot my old swing, and hadn't used his changes enough to have them muscle-remembered, so this spring was the worst I had played in 25 years. I take my golf (too) seriously, and was quite depressed, to the point of taking some lessons locally, which is slowly helping. However, at the start of this season, the drives went everywhere, the irons were fat and thin, the putter had a mind of it's own, and I, at 70 years, could hardly remember my humongous score that was in the low to high 50's at our 36 stroke 9-hole, a course that I once shot 38 on. Watching your drive go 100 yards right, and the succession of disastrous shots on the last hole was the first time I have been able to laugh about this comedy-of-errors predicament that I found myself in this spring; luckily the ga-em is begrudgingly getting better as I practice my butt off. Thank you so much for cheering me up, and reminding me that golf does this to everyone, even guys like you, who can hit it over 200 yards! Keep up the good work, and I just might start enjoying the game again, like I did in my 30's!

18:30 Those one arm left swings are your problem. You're pulling the club down from the top with a dominate left arm. That causes the over the top slice. If you want in to out draw you need to train a dominate right hand/arm in the downswing.

Here is what I think happens to most of us. You got it going good, whether or not by practice or lessons. Then you try to make the "good" better. You start to hit a couple of bad shots and then you revert to what feels safe. Namely, you old habits. It's an endless process. If you don't enjoy the process you going to have a miserable time of it. I CAN RELATE TO THIS VIDEO! Kevin O'Rourke
