The bathing in the tank is also dangerous for the budgies, if left unattended they could get stuck and drown in the tank and birds can get sick quite easliy as well. A better bathing location is a shallow dish, waterbowl, sink, misting with a spray bottle, and some budgies even enjoy the shower! With so many options and alternatives I don't see this person's logic. They may seem to care more about the birds, and it's quite possible they do, but I will bet that they: - Feed an all seed diet, which will cause fatty liver disease - Tiny cage most likely recommened by a petstore that knows nothing - Little or no bird toys, mostly plastic if any - Dowel perches that will eventually cause arthritis - Never takes their birds to an avian vet because "itcosts too much and its just a $25 bird anyways" - Allows their birds to interact with dangerous animals (dogs, cats, etc.) Now I will rant about dogs and cats around budgies (or other birds). No matter how many cute videos you see this is never okay, cats and dogs have a lot of bacteria on their saliva and claws. Just because an animal was always okay with another doesn't mean that their prey drive will suddenly kick in. If your bird isn't killed by the initial attck, without medical attetion wounds or infections will take them. Don't do it, just don't. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk

Of course slowly raising the waterlevel so the turtle doesnt struggle to breath. It was summer, so i removed all the seeds from one of his external feeding bowls and filled it with water to give him something to drink while i was out to buy another bottle. I came back less than an hour later, just to find a drowned bird. I like to think he had suicidal instincts, because i find really hard to believe that he could've been SO stupid to try take a bath in a feeding bowl and get stuck with the head under water. I can't even imagine what he could've done if he had access to one of my tanks.

To me, the markings on the bettas at 6:30 look more like juvenile stripes. Also, the fish toward the center with long blue fins could easily be a female veil tail. Female bettas of long fin varieties still have long fins, they’re just not as long as their male counterparts (usually). With this said it could be a betta sorority, but clearly there is fin nipping occurring and the tank doesn’t look nearly large enough. I understand why people frown upon turtles in fish tanks. That being said, I have two eastern painted turtles in mine. Years ago I tossed some feeder fish in with them to see how they’d handle it. They never so much as acknowledged the fish. These days they live with 8 Mbunas in a 7ft tank. The fish stocking is also often frowned upon as everyone says you must overstock the aggressive mbunas. I’ve taken the opposite approach as I don’t like the idea of ever overstocking a tank. Each fish has lots of space and it’s own territory and aggression, for mbunas anyway, is quite low. Both the turtles and the fish have for years now seen each other as nothing more than tank decorations. I agree it’s usually done wrong but depending on the demeanor and age of the turtles it can be done effectively and certainly makes for a fascinating tank to watch.

Okay soooo I need some assistance from my fellow fish family people. So I recently got a baby betta from Petsmart. It’s been a few weeks now and she’s been pretty healthy, she’s in a small tank (yes it’s very temporary don’t come at me, she still has a lot of space) her colors are very vibrant, she’s very playful and eats healthy, the tank is filtered with a slower flow and a temporary artificial plant set up yet she has some stress stripes and I’m not sure how to help that. Other than that she’s great. Maybe things will be better once I move her to a 5gal I’m getting. Thank you for the advice (if I got any)

I keep budgies as well as fish tanks and I can say even though mine have a plenty big enough bowl to bathe in if given the chance they will bathe in the fish tanks. Lids are a must in my house. I think they like the waterfall effect from HOB filters. That’s my guess anyways idk why they do it.

Here’s what a true expert has to say on the use of live vs artificial plants “Although I do not consider fake plants harmful, I do consider the use real plants to be highly more beneficial for the health of a system. Fake plants are basically inert objects, same as rocks or other non animate objects (although they do become surfaces for beneficial bacteria growth) Live plants on the other hand use nitrate (aquatic and terrestrial plants), and other nuisance nutrient compounds that tend to constantly build up in a closed system, they help oxygenate water, and provide other natural conditions to some degree. But unless the plant to fish ration is much higher, some of these benefits are minuscule, which is why I try to maintain way more plants than fish With some fish species, such as territorial cichlids that rip up plants, they can be hard to keep, I solve this by using planted sumps (refugiums) or putting tanks in a series on a sump with one tank for the plant destroyers, and another tank on the same line dedicated to plants, and fish that don't annihilate them. You'll notice I use inexpensive shop light fixtures, and take advantage of natural sunlight whenever possible, but choose bulbs that benefit plant growth, and also use hardy easy growing plant species, like villisneria, Hydrilla, and Anubias.”

Literally been binge watching these videos. I do feel like I have learned a lot, when I was young I was naive and didn't know better. I owned 3 small fish (not sure what breed) which I was gifted by my grandad. The tank was small, as a child I didn't think much of it- in reflection it was way too small. The fish clearly hated it in reflection. They would jump out of the tank to die so it must have been just that bad. Wish I knew then what I knew now. I think there should be more education for kids and parents before they can buy fish, I would have appreciated it.

I came across your channel 2 days ago and I have been binge watching the FTR videos, I'm glad I came across this one since I've been looking towards getting a female betta and literally 2 hours ago came across one that I liked because she had two black horizontal lines and asked for price, so sad to find out those are actually stress stripes and not a type of pattern :'c love your content!

Lmao budgies don’t naturally swim, they live in the Australian outback where they probably wouldn’t come across large bodies of water most of the year. I live in the natural habitat and it’s dry af here, parrots aren’t designed for swimming and will quickly get waterlogged and sink

You should create a online or real fish store for fish supplies or even fish so people buy the right things for fish.

Those birds could actually drown and they don’t look great. That person didn’t have a favorite pet, they just thought the birds might be a better decoration.

That fish tank in the back of Gohan the Husky's video was a crawfish tank I think. It might of been a turtle tank too.

End of video squad. I tapped the like button gently at the start of the video. But then I felt sad I couldn't press it again at the end. Wish we could like this video twice. 😊 Great video again Chris! Have a great day. 🍀

Eve Wright It's actually very bad for budgies to bathe in water that deep. I own two of them, and you are supposed to mist them with a spray bottle, so not only is that guy a bad fish owner- hes a bad bird owner too.

I know this is really late, but I have to say it just in case it could help someone later. This isn't just abuse of the betta due to bacteria from the budgies, this is dangerous for the budgies due to bacteria too. Aquariums are teeming with gram negative bacteria and gram negative bacteria are the kind most likely to kill your birds. A bird that's managed to get into a fish tank should be rinsed with fresh, clean water as soon as possible and a close eye should be kept on them for at least a week for signs of infection. Ingesting aquarium water can kill a bird in just a few days if antibiotics aren't administered at the first sign of illness.

I love tipsy bartender. If only all the fish bowls in the world would be filled with his drinks, not fish.
