This looks awesome!! I’m so jealous of your sun room. Gardening will be trial and error for a couple years :) I’ve been growing out of containers the last 3 years and am finally just getting my planter boxes built around my yard this year. You’ll learn the sun patterns at your house through the seasons and then find out which plants work best in certain areas. It’s all learning the first few years :)

That was a lot of hard work. Well done!

You should put the beds around the pool. Whichever fence is on the north side of the pool, put them in front of it so they face south and get all the sun. They need to get sun from the south...if it's some late afternoon shade from the west, that's fine. The south sun is what you need and morning sun.

Your plants look amaazing! Good job! I would dig into the soil to level those planters. Get a pick ax to do the digging. It will be so much easier than trying to use the shovel. I'm glad that you moved your planters to a sunny spot. Your plants will love you for it!

I am so excited for you! You have done a great job with starting your plants and those squash look fantastic! I am sorry you had to do all that extra work to move the raised beds, but think you made the right decision. I look forward to seeing you pick your first squash.

The beds look so good! I’d add a thick layer of mulch or straw at the top of your soil to help with moisture and so you don’t have to water as often!🫶🏻 wishing you a bountiful harvest!👩🏻🌾

Kiki to prevent your lettuce from bolting, morning sun, shade afternoon, loves moisture but, well drained rich soil. Good luck you're on your way!

If the plant is rootbound in the cup, gently pull a bunch of the roots so they go straight down then plant them else they'll just keep circling and not get the proper nutrients. You have to break up the rootball. You're doing great, keep goin'! I'd do wood chips over gravel because gravel will really heat up in the summer and you want to keep those roots cool rather than having the air around them get super hot from the heat the gravel will release.

Love it! I just planted in my first raised garden bed at my apartment after having a garden for a while and I’m so excited to learn and see how everything does 😊

I think the super raised up garden bed looks kinda nuts... can you dig the other side into the ground more so it's not so extreme but still level?

I thought the same thing. How to fill that without it spilling out the bottom?

You probably don’t want to hear this, but I still think you don’t have them in a place that gets enough light. Full sun - 6-8 hours a day - not some sun, where part of your beds are shaded by your fence or a tree. Vegetables need a lot of light. Everything has done really well getting through the germination phase, and I’d hate for you to lose most of it. I’ve had a huge garden for years and there’s not one square inch of shade on it.

Make sure your beds for sure get 6 hours plus of direct sunlight (not dappled) during the day!

Glad you didn’t ruin the grass you worked so hard to get over there! I think the beds look better where there is no grass and more sun!

Love do you not have a wheel barrow? Also I think the trellises will look great! I'm more Northern but I'm almost ready to bring my plants outdoors! Starting to harden them off today ❤

she had one before, when she was moving gravel last year? Maybe it's got a flat tire!

You could use rail road ties at the bottom of your beds instead of bricks or wood pallets. You can get old ones at your local lumbar yard. Also, you really need a knee pad. Lol ❤ love from the Oregon Coast

Love the joy on your face! I'm on my third year of gardening with a raised U-shaped bed that we built with wire on the side for climbing plants (cukes, beans, etc.), and it has definitely been trial and error. I agree that the more sun the better, and that if you can see the garden, it will prompt you to get out there and water and harvest more often. I also plant herbs and have a tomato plant on my patio now. Just a suggestion regarding compost...have you looked at your county/city options? We can buy a $20 annual sticker and go to the local yard waste site to get all the compost and mulch we want for free.

Your garden videos inspired me to actually step foot in my backyard- and when I did, I realized I had a bunch of herbs that the previous homeowners must have planted last year!! 😂 Currently watching your video trying to separate the mangled roots and hoping they don't wilt immediately after I transplant them!! 🤞
