I’m not defending the person but also he’s kind of right.. you all have the wrong take. If someone didn’t send this to me I wouldn’t have seen this video because you have bad takes. The rules exist for a reason, he was calling a rules violation and it’s an A-Tier.. it doesn’t matter if he wasn’t in contention or not. As the player who was called he should have known the rules beforehand. Would it have mattered if he was playing MA2? MA1? MPO? Why does the division matter? The rules are for everyone. For casual round play do whatever you want but for a sanctioned event you should know the rules and follow them

Story time: I was on my monthly work trip to Tennessee where I always try to hit up a few good courses while there. I was playing one of my favorites Athens regional park. It is a very open front 7 that goes to a fairly dense wooded back nine. I was on hole 8 a touchy hyzerflip through a small gap that keeps turning. One of my least favorite holes. I had caught up to a guy in front of m, he was kind of older probably in his 50’s. He had a massive pound bag with a strange black pipe sticking out. Obviously my interest was peaked, was it some kind of disc retriever or a warmup device. No it was a dewalt mini 24v leaf blower. He pulled it out leaf blowed the tee pad and collapsed it back in his bag. He looked at me and said your welcome and proceeded to pure the line picked his bag up and nodded to me and walked off like a true seasoned pro.

I honestly really like the idea of World Championships being a huge tournament that anyone can win. What if instead of Worlds fitting into the tour championship model, it adopted a model kind of like the WSOP where anyone can show up and there is a series of tournaments with severe cuts where the winners move up culminating in a final tournament which is the 5 round finale. Basically like an extended qualifier. They could start as like 100s of C-teirs across the country then dozens of B tiers, and then a handful of A tiers where the winner/top finishers can join in with the pros. I definitely like the idea of exemptions to make sure the top pros are all present. Maybe pro tour winners and other exceptions, but I think this could give the Disc Golf World Championships a unique identity as the tournament where the winner truly beats the entire PDGA. It could also dramatically increase engagement when PDGA members played in the qualifying tournaments and then feel like they had a chance to win it all.

I think people are mis-identifying what’s making the Worlds seem lackluster. I think the majority of the issue is that, as far as fans are concerned, the player pool for Worlds is basically the same as any of the Tour stops. What used to make the Worlds more weighty back in the day was that, since only a very few select people could afford to travel and actually “tour,” a lot of the best players in the world were still just playing A Tiers and stuff exclusively in their own region or country. But then the Worlds would be the one time players would make a point to travel from all over the world, different countries even, to play in that tournament once a year. I think to make the Worlds feel special like that again, there either needs to be competing Elite-Level Tours in different regions so that the player pool is more spread out and they only come together for the majors, AND THEN ON TOP OF THAT, the Worlds needs to be only the best of the best who qualify from all of those other tours, including in Europe or in the Pacific/Australia. Then I also like the idea of having amateurs who win big AM events getting to qualify as well. Like 2 Amateurs from each region or something.
@prattacaster
@prattacaster 10 ай бұрын
Well the solution would be having most of the players now stop touring and only show up for worlds. 🤔 Worlds doesn't seem lackluster to me. Every pro talks about it being the most important win basically.

Sometimes people gets Auras before a migraine. It happened to me once in High School. I lost my peripheral vision for 10 minutes. I regained my vision and then the migraine set in. People experience auras in different ways. Some people see halos around lights, or even lose their vision completely. Fortunately aura symptoms from migraines are always temporary.

I get them bad. I get the aura then the pain. Starts with sensitivity to light, then weird dayglo colored geometric/jagged patterns floating. Then pixelated tunnel vision and pain. Not horrible pain, but annoying and with the vision loss it sucks! But luckily ibuprofen knocks it out within 15 minutes. But still left dumber than usual and fatigued after for rest of day.

@Hunter As a fellow migraine person (mine start out visual and have a frontal headache after), sunglasses are a must when playing disc golf on a bright day, and when you get back, dim your screens and put them in night mode. Also avoid high levels of caffeine and stay hydrated, so I skip a 2nd cup of coffee if I'm disc golfing or exercising. Migraines suck, so I hope this helps!

Why do y'all keep wanting to "fix" World's? I know some players hate that their "worth" seems overly dependent on one tournament, but welcome to sports. QB Super Bowl wins are overvalued for how good someone's career is, but you don't hear NFL media going on and on about how the Super Bowl needs restructuring to make player narratives more "fair". It's the biggest, most important tournament BECAUSE everyone knows how important it is. If everyone ascribes a high value to a thing, it's valuable. It should be held with a qualifying process (ratings do that now, it's hard to get a +1000 rating, you have to be an extremely good disc golfer to get to that level), it should have a large amount of participants (it does), and it should be a grind to overcome everyone to be standing in first at the end of a lengthy test (it is).

So I guess the point of the MA3 division is to not learn the rules or follow them. MA3 is a learning division. There are set rules and they are in the PDGA rule book. The guy in the wrong was the guy who did not look after his equipment, is Louis. The guy pointing out the rule is not in the wrong, and is not scumbag. We have to police ourselves in this sport and having a piece of tape on a disc is a no no in our rules. The scumbag move is throwing the guy in the right under the bus, Louis messed up. It is all on Louis. I am sure next time Louis, who is in the wrong, will not have tape on his disc next time.

The worlds changes would sound great but are again a bit US centric again. Playing the most coveted PDGA event would be limited to warmer climate. That would rule out Finland (probably second largest disc golf country) as a possible place to hold it because ground can be frozen in October. I don’t mind how DGPT operates since that is US company but PDGA is global organization.

Worlds should be the final tournament, 3 top points players get -3, -2, -1 to start, have 4 majors to qualify for Worlds where a top 10 in one qualifies you, 2 top 20 finishes qualifies you, 3 top 30 finishes qualifies you and 4 top 40 finishes qualifies you, after that, if there are spots left, it would be by points and invites, invites meaning the top players from other classes and maybe the top collegiate player. And I hate it when we reference golf, yes it’s similar, but make disc golf it’s own, golf is the most boringest thing to watch on tv.
