THE MOST SATISFYING paper mache sculpture technique

This is an amazing new technique, adapted from authentic Venetian mask making, using paper mache in plaster molds to make lightweight, hollow, durable, long-lasting, economical, paper mache sculptures. It may be complex, but it's a lot of fun. This paper mache sculpture is called "Pride". It's the third or fourth sculpture that I made using this technique, an easy, satisfying paper layering method of creating high end paper sculpture. I've learned so much in the last several years and hope that it helps you all to not make the same mistakes as me and change your art life forever! And you can spend a week in my studio and at the rancho with us!

Diane, instead of washers have you ever tried a T-nut,it’s like a nut that has a washer already,and the washer has spikes you can pound with a hammer into a pre drilled hole into plywood.the t-nut sinks into the plywood and acts as a nut.You can make small ply wood sections (circles,or what looks like a wheel and put them on the rod inside your sculptures parts…….that can connect to the paper. You wouldn’t have to do all that build-up inside on that washer. You’d cut some say 3” circles out of plywood,or whatever your inside dimension is.drill a hole in that center…..put your treaded T- nut in that hole and pound it in with a hammer. Now you can use that instead of a nut and washer…the edge of that wheel will align with the inside of the wall of your sculpture….
