I’ve been a member at Rivermont for 28 years. My family for 42 years. Grew up playing it and still enjoying it to this day. This is an awesome tribute to Mark Hoban and Rivermont Golf Club. The course truly is incredible and one of a kind.

A course like this needs more attention for sure. I guess the natural look is more of an acquired taste, but I think the market for sustainable courses is definitely there. Especially for the younger generation who want to prioritize those sorts of things. I personally find this course incredible. The colors and textures are unreal!

Just a beautiful moment when the pro tells you his feelings about Mark and the job he does for the course. Great job bringing that moment out in the video! Begins at 12:05 mark.

Fantastic to see a beautiful working example of how things could be. Responsibility weighs heavily on the people who actually tune in to the short slice of life we are privileged to have. Im trying to convert a sports club, and stuff the begrudgers.

Song is amazing at the end. Truly appreciate these videos. The cinematography, the courses, the people, and the greatness of the sport. These videos show that this can really be the greatest game in the world and it’s to the credit of people like the ones in this video.

This is amazing and hopefully more begin to follow. It benefits so many from the club (costs) to the landscape (sustainability). I always find myself in a hard place being that I make my living from sustainability development and planning, but loving golf and spending 7 years in the industry. So, really, really love and adore this concept and seeing it gather traction.

This is my home course during the summers and I can say it is by far one of the coolest golf courses I’ve played in my life. I feel like there’s not a bad hole out there. The greens are a great challenge and the course itself is a great balance of easy and hard. Recommend playing it any chance you get

Great video, highlighting an outstanding golf course and naturalist/superintendent. Mark has done a great job with Rivermont and his implementation of natural nutrients (using kitchen scraps to generate worm compost/castings and compost teas for instance) and advanced approaches (nanobubble oxygen, humic acid carbon, Air2G2) helps keep this process moving forward. Mark is always finding new approaches to support this work and I'm blessed to work with him and know him as a good friend. A kindred spirit might be a better description. Mark has conducted multiple field days at Rivermont to invite researchers, vendors, and other superintendents to learn from his work and take the lessons learned back to their courses. I hope he can continue to share his work and knowledge. He's an amazing leader in this field. RIP Berkeley.

Thanks for another great episode. We are spoiled here in Johns Creek with the number of great golf courses that are within our city limits. Mark mentions the Standard Club which also has a wonderful course full of native grasses and interesting greens (I'm sure thanks, in part, to the foundation he laid there), not to mention both Atlanta Athletic Club courses. Come on back any time and we'll share more of our great little suburban city.

Like everything else you do, this was awesome. The course I play had a guy that tried to implement the natural look and unfortunately most of the people hated it. I loved it. And this approach is not only environment friendly but it’s financially efficient as well. I live in North Carolina and people freaked the hell out when Pinehurst #2 went natural. I went to the latest US Women’s Open that was held at #2 and to me the course was beautiful and had much more character than it did before.

Lots of courses and driving ranges will rent clubs. Call up your local ones to see what's available. A place called Topgolf is great if you are near one, they provide clubs for no additional charge if you don't bring them, it's a great place for beginners. You can get into the game cheaply if you ask around and scour Craigslist for used clubs. I just hooked up a friend with a 10 year old starter set that was $600, he offered me $50 and I said "sold" then hooked him up with some balls and other accessories to get started. Good Luck! Hell just get a putter, a wedge and some practice balls that you can screw around with anywhere. Whatever gets you in the game man. Cheers!

Pretty well what pature golf on the amateur side of things is all about, or as I've heard it said, "We give the dog a haircut, but we don't shave the poor pup's butt." It's the original way of making a golf course. No earth-moving, no seeding, the clouds are the sprinklers. Cut a few holes and give the grass a mow occasionally.

@@gtaylor9218 Yes Augusta National is an amazing place, but I prefer to play on courses that are less manicured and more natural (give me nature every time). Plus I am never likely to get an invitation to play Augusta anyway and I am not sure that I would want to as I detest elitist BS most. But each to their own, take care Sam and happy Golfing
