You can special him and still be able to normal summon a tenpai and set your tenpai up. I mean idk I just tried it and I mean in the last 20 games I have one 15. And sovereign works really well against tenpai.

Many of the card names are references to Riichi Mahjong, aka Japanese mahjong. Tenpai is the state of being one tile away from winning. A lot of the other names, like Kaiho (which comes from Rinshan Kaiho) are different types of wins/win conditions.

How I've learned is this Red summon White, White Add Kaimen, then attack then Synch into Bident, Bident bring back white, Kaimen for Green (I see him as BLue but that's not relevent) Green bring back Red, that's 3 attacks, Synch for 10 using the SYnchro 7, Trancendance Attack, Bring back Lv.7 attack, Sync for Trident Dragion, pop the other Syncro and the other card you control, attack 3 times then Trancendance come back for one more attack

I think a card people are sleeping on in Tenpai is Clear Wing Synchro Dragon generic lv.7 synchro that has 2 negates. The first one negates lv.5 or higher monster or higher monsters on field and destroys them if they activate a effect and the other can negate any monster effect that targets a lv.5 or higher monster you control. This is really nice since a lot of the better Tenpai decks play Fenrir in some capacity meaning that they still have a lot of room for non-engine but its not just this deck that can't set up powerful going first boards. I think what you did is smart but I would probably make a similar list that replaces Rindbrumm with Clear Wing Synchro Dragon for those games where I think I can get away with making it and I have the Fenrir to make it even better. The secret Guu for Tenpai is 2 Blaster and 1 Gold Sarcophagus because Blaster destroys a card, its a lv.7 fire dragon body, and when its banished you can search for 1 fire dragon monster. It can be Genroku if you couldn't use the field spell to add it that way you still have Kaimen to use during the battle phase this allows you plays where you can play through more hand traps than ever before an making it possible to play somewhat easily without the field spell. This deck can play through 3+ hand traps and OTK without the field spell if your smart enough to know how meaning that they could ban the field spell but as long as people have the brains to make up for the loss of the field spell it'll still mean nothing just like people are saying Tear is rogue but as long as we keep getting cards like Phantom of Yubel and Blue-Eyes of the Heart and engines like the Fiendsmith engine it will be beatable by board breakers but near unstoppable if un-hit by them. This has always been the way things have gone. People will always try to make decks broken no matter how many hits those decks receive from Konami until Konami gets sick of banning cards and answer them with cards like Fuwalos, ban the whole archetype, or leave them alone until they get to out of hand again. Our desire to win when we have a goal like being number 1 in tournaments will often times lead us to play in ways that feel unfun to our opponents and we will be fine with it until we get sick of playing certain decks and play something else.

One Day of Peace has been my ultimate going first Tenpai card. perfect backup plan going first or if you are interrupted going second as well as the mirror. Im also considering Dark Ruler no More to compliment Forbidden Droplet, mass negates seem to break through better than hand traps or board breakers in my experience so far. Also some hidden gems for the Extra Deck are Hyper Psychic Riser (level 6 synchro made with Genroku, floodgate negates all monsters over 2k atk and prevents attacks from 2k and less [Yubel Bait]) Star Eater (Lv11 synchro 3200 atk for game in weird situations)

Would a Buster Blader deck work against Tenpai? While Tenpai is hot in Master Duel it might be funny to run a Buster Blader deck for a bit. But I'm not competitive enough to know if it would actually be effective. I'm guessing Tenpai might be good enough to bypass a deck at Buster's level even if they're dragons.
