Dear Peter, when I was in Lviv, the lady tourist was telling me why do you want to go to Kharkiv there is nothing there haha. Later on, I realized that Kharkiv is almost over 98 per cent, Russian people. Where Lviv and other cities on the other side are mainly Ukrainian speakers. What you see is all soviet stuff. When I first visited Lithuania I thought I was on a space ship when I boarded a train in the 1990s. All that is gone now. You wont find that any where because such things were built for the people not for the Oligarch. Only the Oligarch have such things in the western world like drinking a cup of tea a hotel that cost around 3000 pounds a day and the cup of tea cost around 120 pounds. That soviet stuff disappeared from Lithuania and now the Native cannot afford even a flat. So they are all gone abroad. For a young woman with a new baby full pay for three years and stay at home for three years and the doctor would come to visit every month. It is all gone now and no more three years payment for anybody. There were things that are almost impossible to imagine in a capitalist society. All gone now. Yes there were bad things too not ignoring that, it was part of a totalitarian state system.

What an awesome video Peter!!! Thanks for posting. I was in Kyiv in late August and was blown away by this country and its people. I fell in love with Ukraine. And you are right, the young people in Ukraine are vastly more "wise" than those here in the US. I've met so many young Ukrainians that if I didn't know their age, I would swear they were 10-15 older because they are so mature in well informed. I only got to spend a week in Kyiv, but I would love to take like 6 months and tour the entire country and I am now dying to see Kharkiv thanks to this great video!!! Where from the in the US? @Jerry V I am so amazed at just how far we've fallen as a nation. I mean, how much dumber can we get? And DC politics absolutely sickens me. There are a few good politicians like Trey Gowdy and Jason Chaffetz, but most of them need to be arrested for sedition. If the founding fathers were alive right now, they would gasp in horror what we did to this nation they gave us.

@Jerry V Alas, the constitution is a magnificent document and genius, but it is now on it's deathbed. When George Bush Jr. call is a God d*@n piece of paper it horrifies me. This is the "piece of paper" that he took an oath to defend, that all our politicians took and oath to defend, that our soldiers are dying or have died in foreign lands defending. When I hear people saying it's time to get rid of the 2nd amendment I shake my head at their stupidity "oh, it doesn't apply anymore or it only refers to muskets" b.s. What? They think the founding fathers were a bunch of "gold ole boys" that loved their guns and wanted to shoot an errant deer passing by? They knew that the last line of defense against a tyranny is an armed citizenry. History is replete with genocide following gun control. And areas such as Australia and England saw massive increases in crime after passing their gun ban laws. We Americans have become such morons I don't know how we survive. Really about tanks being moved across Ukraine? I'm not surprised because if you read the book, "The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy and its Geostrategic Imperatives" by Zbignew Brezezinski (which was written in 1997), he stated that THE key country (one of 5, but the most important of the 5) the US had to gain control of to further it's agenda and be the dominant power in the world is - you guessed it - UKRAINE. That's why I HATE American politicians as they will kill a million people to garner power and fill their pockets. My heart breaks for Ukraine when I hear about the war and such misery and US politicians are behind their misery and sorrow. I would love to arrest all of them (most of them) and send them to jail for the rest of their miserable lives. I long for peace and prosperity for Ukraine and her people.

Spent some time there over a decade ago, and I was also struck by the maturity level of the young people. Also, by how PRETTY, stylish and FIT the young women were! Being from the US, it was very hard not to notice almost a complete lack of obesity -- kinda like the US back in the '60's or '70's. Most of the people I had contact with were friendly, VERY warm, and VERY welcoming. I weep for these people now. Most of the short time I spent there was in the port city of Mariupol, which was hit VERY hard by this war, pretty much destroyed and left in complete ruin. My heart is broken...
