I have an 03 lx. Adding em2 parts and its looking amazing, i change transmission off a em2 on my non vtex engine. I just beat a stock v6 impala on a down hill. Lx is not a heavy vehicle. Perham the ex vtex is heavier due to moonroof and brake system. Bigger stuff and heavier.

I have an es2 with tein coils and basic bolt ons, one thing I can say is I'm beyond impressed how these cars can perform in corners with a well dialed in suspension setup. Cant wait to k swap mine!

Picked up a clean 02 Rallye red EM2 last November for $600 off an older dude that brought it in our stealership for a blown trans... Bought a JDM Trans for half the price Than our local pull-a-part. Took 2 of us 4.5 hours to swap. Love the simplicity of the 7th gen. But they do have there pros and cons. Most 01 civ have a cam walk, best be ready to replace a head gasket if it overheats once, oh... And have I mentioned transmissions?

I didn’t really like mine, 02’ dx 5 speed. Silver sedan like this one. It was great for $300 but had lots of sensor issues. I sold it and got a 91 dx hatch 5 speed and like it so much more

I’ve got one myself an 03 em2 & trust me, if you do it properly you’ll get a ridiculous amount of praise for it simply bc no one puts time or money into the 7th gen. So when ppl see a clean one they gotta give it up. Plus it feels good going to the meets or just driving around and being the only one on the road or at the meet. Oppose to an em1 or a hatch which everyone’s got. Anyways I say you keep it, 7th gen FTW

What mod do you plan on doing first if you plan on modding it? I just got my 2005 and it came with a magnaflow exhaust system and some nice headers, sounds amazing when you put a bit of throttle on it.

@@carloswick1 lots of people say the D series sucks when it comes to modding but personally I think a nice exhaust system, some pricey headers, a good set of wheels and suspension, and kept up maintenance will do the job of keeping one of these cars running as a daily. I plan on rebuilding my motor or swapping it out for a k series in the future but right now it’s a perfect little car for a daily

You can’t really mod this theirs not much on the market but an intake beat you can do is custom build a turbo kit for it and call it a day. Sure it has a few visual mods for the look but that’s it.

I miss pre 2005 Honda design so much. Like everything before was just better and not just greedy designs that drive cost of repairs up... crazier designs cost more to make and repair. The civic has been the best for so long for a reason but when they got that hunchback that crushed rear passengers it was over. "Buy the bigger accord" thats when I stoppedliking Honda. Its not nostalgia its missing not being rippedoff by every company out there. Can't buy anything that lasts and thats by intentionally designing it that way.

It just never looked aesthetically pleasing is all to me. It looked and still does like a regular family economy gas saving car no matter what is done. Even with thick wheels and agressive styling they never seem to mesh together like the other gens. In my eyes at least.

They are great economy cars. Don't bother doing perf mods to them. The d17 doesn't have tunability like the d16, not that the d16 has tunability EITHER outside of a turbo. I'd personally k swap it or keep it stock and enjoy the mpg and reliability. Not every car needs mods.
