Yeah dude, I do not understand either. If anything I'm looking at their newer cars thinking they simply got bullied back into using round headlights. This was definitely a more modern move and has aged better arguably than even the 997

Have had my new to me 2004 C4S for 3 weeks. So much fun, and I love the look. After all, it’s a 911 and I have dreamed about having one of my own since I was little.

If you find the throw of the 996 gear lever is too long, you can fit the shifter from the 996 GT3. It’s in metal and won’t wear out & requires a shorter throw. The original nylon shifter mechanism under the gaiter can wear & make the lever feel vague. Mine is a low miles original, unworn and the shift is perfectly weighted.

I owned a 2001 996 Cab. Bought it with 56 K and sold with 108K. It was a fast and fun car. It always ran well, but I replaced the clutch at 87K, water pump at 92K, head liner at 100K, and air oil separator at 104K. No other issues. The interior is basic and unimpressive. Not sure I would buy another.

I have the same car, same features, and it is a lovely vehicle. Tricked it out with a large air intake, oversized sway bars, sport exhaust, adjustable shocks, HSE wheels, replaced most major parts. I’m a tour leader for the San Diego chapter of the Porsche Club of America and regularly take it on east county blasts through the desert and mountains. It is fast, fun to drive, handles (like a Porsche) and it’s a real sports car which can be had for a fraction of the cost of a newer Porsche. I’d get an “S”, “GTS”, or “Turbo” variant if you can find one for more horsepower. Get the stick

@@eruc3ht Take I-8 to the Sunrise highway. This will eventually take you to Rt. 79 and Julian. When you get to Julian turn right on SR 22, down the Banner Grade, and eventually to Borrego Springs. Take a break in Borrego and then take the Montezuma highway out of town, a breathtaking piece of road. At the end of that road turn left, which will eventually get you back to S 22. Turn right and go back up the Banner grade, turn left at the stop sign and take Rt. 79 back to I-8. Quite a ride, probably about 80 miles or so

Lol! 😂 “It’s a great car to learn driving manual.” In the reality this is the worse because it’s too expensive to screw up the clutch or wreck the whole car. An ugly Saturn ion is the perfect car to learn to drive because they cheap and nobody cares if it’s crashed.
