I love this woman so very much and had the distinct pleasure of meeting her in person back in 2013 in London's Eagle Bar. She was sweet and posed for s photo with me just because. I am still in awe about her tone and instrument. Long may she be able to use those extraordinary pipes!!

Thank you for honoring Martha. But, I wish you included the earlier clips of her and Izora Rhodes singing background for SYLVESTER. Then move through the Weather Girls era (Martha and Izora).....then the different eras of her solo career. This gives the post-1980 babies more context.

0:03 Oh WoW! Such unconstrained vocal power. Ever since I heard that song as a child, I always thought that part was the result of studio effects. It sounded just like the studio version. The higher ups in the music industry are so wicked; how could they use & profit of her voice like that yet hide this gem of a vocalist over something so trivial 😒 Thank you so much for highlighting her immense talent❣ I hope she gets to see this; I'm almost certain she would love it!

I can hear the Aretha’s influence in her voice. She really learned from the best and made it her own. Her voice is really powerful yet she still knows when and where to unleash it, which shows how much of a masterful vocalist she is.

Probably... Today the industry is less discriminating in that field but still hard on others. In my opinion, she would be more accepted (if she was part of new generations) but i guess that she wouldn't be highlighted as much as female singers who match current beauty standards or sexualize themselves...

A legend. She was ROBBED. Q Lazzarus (Goodbye Horses) comes to mind too: the industry (and GP tbh) was NOT ready for big-boned black vocalists back then 🤧. Love Strike It Up and EDN

Martha didn't get the credit she deserved due to these producers using slimmer models to promote their records. She wasn't the only one the Black Box producers had sing on their records and wasn't credited for her vocals.

the fact that even in the modern day (on his 2013 and 2015 albums), people like Avicii didn't give feature credits to singers who sang 100% of the song like Adam Lambert, Chris Martin, Aloe Blacc, and more. It's ridiculous.
