It was a troll game that accidentally went well actually. Steve was mayor and was constantly trying to vote Dumbdog out just to annoy him, but he missvoted in the wrong round. However, 5Up knew that it was Steve trying to vote DD out, and that made him think they were not lovers, because 5Up thinks in a logical way. Steve accidentally made such a good play by being a troll

He threw Kara under the bus to save himself. If she wasn’t voted out, they would have voted out 5up. And they would have been in the same situation. Just Kara in the endgame instead of 5up. 5up’s hope was that he could get Steve to a final 3 meeting and then just guess his role because he knew he was mayor.

Kara was morphed so nobody else saw her there, nobody else had sussed her and she had a vouch. 5up was getting sussed so even if they get Kara out, that doesn't eliminate his sus. She would have had a better chance of winning then he would have. Regardless, as nobody knew Kara was there, he could have literally made the same play on anyone else, he didn't have to do it on his partner.

He had the better chance of winning the game because even though he had sus for the kill, getting Kara out cleared him. I don't know why people are saying he made a bad choice when he literally would've won the game if not for the steve-dumbdog lovers, which is so hard to predict in that position. Only other thing he could've done was go for Koji. I think that would be the wrong choice. If he goes against kara and succeeds, he removes a lot of sus on himself. If he goes against Kara and fails, she is still in an even better spot individually bc she was clear and sussed by a confirmed imp. However, if he went against Koji and succeeds, they win the game confirmed (well, lovers would win but i mean from his perspective) but if he goes against koji and fails that removes sus from Koji which would make Kara more sus. Essentially, he chose the option where his team is more likely to succeed whether he convinces the other impostors or not, rather than the option where they confirmed win if he succeeds, but if he fails it'd be a hard win for Kara.
