I actually encountered an interesting glitch with the mole fight in Gold leaf. If you land a hit with the coconut on the left from where you start the fight and are still in mid air, the cutscene will end with you falling back to the main level, allowing you to grab extra starbits. Plus, you can climb back up and continue the fight as if nothing happened.
