My dad James King headed a group called Historic Grand Prix in America which raced F1 cars from the 3L era and his group helped the team shoot this scene. To answer your question about the names on the leader board only two are from HGP- my dad who is King and Locke is Chris Locke who is a Lawyer from SF that owns and runs the Lotus 77. But not sure why they put the NZ flag next to his name not the US one.

My big takeaway here is that Monaco charges more to be a marshal (€100) than a driver (€80)!
@DerBeppone

Which makes sense, honestly. It's basically the difference between reading the flags and cautiously passing the danger zone vs. knowing when to use them plus giving aid to clean the track, push cars aside and such.

@Tiemewitte 7 ай бұрын
the text at 1:27 says it's €80 to take part in this one race, and that it must be paid in addition to the entry fee. So the driver pays more than €80. also, the €100 for marshals is a yearly fee, meaning you can marshall for more than just one race. So no, they do not charge more for marshals.

There's another thing I noted immediately when I first saw that scene. Most F1 cars of that time had the pedals very close or downright in front of the front axle. Whiplash cut the car some distance behind the wheels, yet Stark didn't get his feet chopped off. I guess Howard was unusually concerned with driver's safety at the time.🤷🏼‍♂️ Nice video, I couldn't stop laughing when you got to the part of a marshall not needing tickets for the race.😂

5:12 Greg Locke is NOT an official Cars character. He is a fan-made character made for the Piston Cup Wiki in 2018 and his lore was remade many times (only death part was stayed from the OG lore). BUT his son Lane Locke is an actual Cars character, who appeared in Cars 3 as a SynerG Stock Car and was replaced by Eric Braker (Next Gen SynerG racer). Cars 3 were released after Ironman 2 tho. Also I think you have most likely discovered Greg Locke in Piston Cup wiki and I am one of the editors there.

for proper preperations, it's always a good idea to prepare both, a Marshal uniform (in case you want to go that route and no, just because your name is on it doesn't mean, that you've undercone training. The uniforms are probably not gonna be a secret until the race anyway) and take a ticket with you (in case you go in as a visitor). Might even be an idea to prepare to play a reporter or a security as well, just to have as many options as possible.

Something tells me we're not expected to believe he was actually employed as a marshal.

What people forget is that it’s Tony flipping Stark. Him taking part puts emphasis on his power and ability. He could have literally taken part in the actual GP and people in that universe would act the same. He is known to be Iron man, who is both faster and deals with more G force than a normal F1 car. The dude is billionaire super hero engineer who built a robot suit which can fly at the speeds of a jetfighter with a British butler ai companion. He can drive a f1 car. He can drive anything he wants.

Just an aside. The most unrealistic thing is a whip charged with enough electricity to cut through aluminum and steel parts instantly. In reality it would have disintegrated itself faster. Basically as soon as he charged it up and touched the ground. It would have burned up. No material is able to do that, no matter how much they imagine to be so. The table of elements has no row for magic. No matter how much the MCU or Star Wars wishes for it. Likely electrocuting himself in this process. This was the MCU pretending to have lightsabers, but in the hands of bad guys only. Again, magic. More fitting for Harry Potter. Lightsabers as well.

Is this the guy who narrated the OG races? If it isn't, his voice is really similar lmao. I am not from an English speaking country so I wouldn't know, I only recently heard his narrations due to as an English speaking adult getting into F1, watching clips from OG races in English.

I think that the funny thing about people nitpicking this scene is that many completely missed it was "historic" and just thought that 2011 f1 cars looked like that. Or called it another flaw

This is dumb... let me fix this: in the MCU there´s a regulation which says: anyone could drive a car in Monaco paying a $200 fee. Done.

“And you may call me soft, but I feel this is just cause to stop the race…” This line has no reason to be as funny as it is, because I can’t stop laughing, but I guess it just sums up the FIA and their recent string of questionable calls. Brilliant video mate! Loved every second of it!😂

Anton in fact predicted Tony would do such a crazy thing since he knew about his paladium infection. His target was 100% Tony himself not the car. He knew that even if he was out of luck and Tony didn't drive, he would have definitely at least shown up in his armor. Thus the whole "sharks come for a bleeding god" speech later on. One of my favourite movies.
