I don't think they are? Not in this movie at least. I think all the spelling out of the zombies as allegories for consumerism is an homage to other zombie movies that did this. It feels purposefully hollow. I think the movie is just making fun of the genre and more broadly it has a nihilistic absurdist vibe. If it leans into allegory it does so only insofar as it can mock it for being allegory in the first place. Long way of saying that it ain't all that deep, really

What happens if an undead actually gets what they're obsessing on -- like Chardonnay or ice cream?
@HaloInverseАй бұрын
Based on the kids at the convenience store and the guy dragging a guitar... it seems like they've forgotten _why_ they want the things they want, and what the purpose of those things was. They barely even seem to acknowledge that they _have_ the object of their obsession - the kids weren't eating candy or playing with toys, the musician didn't play the guitar. Just hunger, unending and unsatisfiable.
@onidaaitsubasa4177Ай бұрын
@@HaloInverse maybe if you get the kids that say "ice cream" to actually lick the ice cream or put it in their mouth, maybe then they'll just sit there licking it or chewing on it till it's gone, then they'll go wandering around again, it would be interesting if they started saying something different like if the craving was satisfied.
@Erikon1428 күн бұрын
I wonder if it was whatever their last 'target' they ever thought of before being infected. Why all the kids were going after candy, those people on their phone wanted wifi and bluetooth, everyone trying to get into the hardware store wanted drills. I'm sure it wasnt meant to have any sorta depth beyond just being a hilarious idea- but it could almost be how the 'virus' makes its victims pursue the living, by keeping their brain focused on retrieval of an item

Walking Dead had kid zombies, usually as a way to show that nobody was safe from turning into a zombie, also as a plot point to make people hesitate before shooting, cause the back of your mind would still be like "it's just a kid" while the rest of your mind would be like "but they're still a zombie, shoot shoot, they gonna eat you"

It was an awful movie, and obviously deliberate, but not for the reason you would think. It wasn't an awful movie for the sake of being awful, but because it was essentially designed to be awful out of a slap in the face to the audience. That's the problem with the movie. It was made specifically so you don't really enjoy it, but it also had to make some money, so they had to make it at least meet that threshold. That's why this movie seems soo "odd", but once you realize the actual intent, it all makes sense.
