brazilian here, loved this video. just wanted to let you know that the screen you couldn't figure out the translation for at 25:11 is a message in portuguese that's backwards. it says: "an icon of dominion is a symbol of violence, theft, slavery and genocide. the violence of the image is silent, a mark of shame that makes a mockery of its victims of yesteryear, a symbol of pride of the executioners and the corrupt. such symbols must be destroyed in an iconoclastic(?) performance where our executioners are not exalted." the picture behind the text also looks like it might be an aerial view of rio, speaking as a person that was born in rio de janeiro. definitely relates to the next one that talks about how "every icon of dominance must burn." it's definitely written in brazilian portuguese rather than portuguese from portugal (they're fairly different grammatically speaking) so i'm pretty sure about the background picture being rio.

The jumpscares on the overworld of Tamashii are to show how the world is unraveling and you can learn some bits of lore and reach new areas through them; and apparently, something happens if you solve all of the tarot cards, but according to the developer that is possible only in two ways: Cheat or be a clairvoyant.

There's a lot of Kabbalah and Gnostic magical/religious structure here. The Patriarch is the Demiurge, and the Lowest Sphere is the point where divinity can connect with the physical. That's the Tree of Life symbol in the back, at the top is Divinity, at the bottom is the Physical, and the 8 spheres between them are the layers of reality buffering Reality from the infinite nature of God. But that's just one occultist watching a review, I have yet to play the games, but I can very much tell you the stuff you're skipping over is Jewish magical tradition and heretical Christian doctrines.

another brazilian here, i still didn't finish the video, so i don't know if it was mentioned, but the name "teocida" can be read as the act of killing a god, i'm not sure if it's actually a real word in portuguese, but it's etmology means it

''Teocidio'' is a bastadization of Theo, latin prefix for God, and cide, suffix for killing. The wrong part of the word ''Teocidio'', is that the prefix is taken from ''Teologia''(Theology), but Theocide has a translation in portuguese already, altough it doen't have the oomph that ''Teocidio'' has, ''Deicidio'' is the actual translation for Theocide, Dei being another prefix for God.

Thanks for making this video! This is a really nice introduction to this game series. The artwork in the backgrounds of some of these levels are crazy detailed and super eerie. I feel like a lot of “edgy” and “dark” games lean on these aesthetics and the story or gameplay doesn’t quite measure up, but it looks like a lot of effort was put into these projects as a whole. Mad respect for Vikintor, the developer. Gotta try these out now!

The aesthetics of these games greatly remind me of H.R. Giger's artworks, I wonder if he was somewhat of an inspiration for the games. Many of his works include body horror, fusion of flesh and machine, the occult and many more that plagued his nightmares

Just in case nobody's said, you don't need to brute force the code. It's a simple substitution cypher and the letter associations are actually the list of steam achievements in sequence. It's a weird way of doing it that requires an external site because steam doesn't allow you to sort by original listing

someone already translated the message at 25:11, but the other cryptic image at 25:12 has a very interesting feature: above the "every icon of dominance must burn" stands an image very similar to the symbol/logo of a brazillian neopentecostal megachurch, famous for expanding itself across several other countries besides brazil. this church, alongside several evangelical/neopentecostal churches, use the manifestation of entities in it's faithful as part of their services and sermons, atributing their troubles and tribulations to these entities. entities manifesting inside one's body is a very common practice on afro-diasporic religions of brazil, namely umbanda and candomblé, and these religions have been historically demonized by the christian majority in the country. the message of "an icon of dominance is a symbol of violence, theft, slavery and genocide" perfectly ties into this practice: they didn't only copy this religious practice, but directly stole it by using the same names of the entities ("pomba gira", "zé pilintra", etc.) inside their christian neopentecostal churches; stealing another's religious culture, atributing it as direct opposition and offense towards the christian god, and therefore contributing to the demonization of afro-diasporic religions on brazil. it's a symbol of the colonial heritage of brazil, the slavery, subservience and genocide of black and indigenous people and their cultures modernized in a popular way of worshipping the christian god idk something interesting i'd like to share

I prefer to interpret the plot of this game, as come kind of feminism theme, but instead of gender war and pure hate from females towards males it’s more like war of concepts - demonic and temptation-like freedom from moral boundaries against strict god doctrines + philosophy, that any concept and idea one day or another dies and yields the place to another idea and new history timeline

i kinda like a lot of these weird, edgy games, cause the desensitization i've had to gore and whatnot's let me look past it to the deeper philosophies they bring. like fear and hunger, this series's idea seems to be indomitable spirit, becoming the adversary of even gods and making your own fate to rival them. i love the message the matriarch brings of throwing off dogmas, too. her doctrine is given with a gentle hand, and she practices it herself, as opposed to the patriarch's detached and commanding ways without compassion. this kind of moral role reversal like "ouh is the devil the good guy??" is super edgy and overdone and cringy and yeah yeah, i know, but it still gets me how hopeful it feels, strangely. in spite of how scary and grotesque it is. or, maybe it's better because i can lean into it. sadly, i'm not gonna play these myself, but i congrats to everyone who has! have a chill day.
