I'm a new Ipad user and I'll tell you the most useful trick in this entire video for me was seeing you create an app folder by long pressing one icon and then just tapping the others to add them to the folder. That's the level of the things I currently find useful. The thing with selecting note elements to change properties was also something I'll use.

After years of seeing the iPad as an over-expensive content consumption device, I have now replaced my Surface Pro 4 as my travelling setup (I travel a lot for work, or used to, and probably will again) with a 2020 11" iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil. everything I need, including a USB-C dock, a fold-flat PD charger (no bulky UK plug pins sticking out), a 1TB portable SSD, a mouse, a USB-C dock, AirPods Pro, a 20,000mAh PD power bank and all the necessary charging leads, all fits in one small TomToc shoulder bag. It's all amazingly portable. As well as a content consumption machine, the iPad Air is now a pukka work machine also, and even a content creation device.

I’m using the Apple Folio keyboard, it’s $150 less, lighter weight, water resistant and after a while (takes a few weeks) not difficult to type on once you get your wrist strength up a bit. You could however buy a $20 desktop stand and a $20 lighted keyboard. Then unlike the two Apple keyboards it’s not an auto connect like these are. Touch typers won’t need the lighted keyboard as much. I’m typing this in the dark right now and it’s fine.

Your shorts and videos have been the reason why I bought the iPad Pro, and more importantly, where I learned the full scope and power of this tool. Very good material ! I have learned many ways to incorporate this device (iPad pro 5th g) into my roles as educator and corporate professional. The only caveat is I have to come back periodically to ‘get’ what’s your saying due to the content rich material. It’s too much to absorb in one sitting! Well done!

Very cool tips-thank you. I especially like the slideover gestures which I’d not seen before. By the way, I found I could invoke slideover anywhere along the right edge, not just near the top. I also found it easier to bump the cursor so it’s momentarily resting on the edge of the screen, then, a separate, short right-swipe gesture brings up slideover. I struggled to get the trick of flinging the slideover window across the screen at first. Then I realised that the 'slightly longer' gesture works like this: rest the cursor on the right edge of the screen, as before. But now, again in a separate gesture, swipe *further off to the right of the screen* (imagine your cursor landing outside of your screen to the right) and then it works great. Again, thank you; I didn't know these slideover moves before.
@diegob67292 жыл бұрын
But how you move it back ?
@fredhoysted2 жыл бұрын
@@diegob6729 You can literally reverse the move. If you’ve ended up with your Slideover window on the lefthand side of the display, you can rest your cursor on the left edge of the screen, then, in a separate move, swipe the cursor off to the left of the screen. Your Slideover window then pings back over to the right.
@diegob67292 жыл бұрын
@@fredhoysted I can’t make it :( the strange thing is that when it’s slideovered to the left i doesn’t disappear on the left like it normally does on the right 😵
@fredhoysted2 жыл бұрын
It’s a very frustrating set of gestures, to be sure. One detail I’ve realised is missing from what I wrote above - and this may help - is this: The action to fling the Slideover window from right to left, or left to right only works if the Slideover window is hidden already, whether on the right of on the left. So, for example, you have a Slideover window visible on the right, you make it disappear to the right (eg by resting your cursor on right of screen then swiping the cursor further to the right). Now, with Slideover hidden to the right like this, you repeat that cursor swipe off to the right and the Slideover window reappears and immediately flips over to the left slide of the screen. I’d missed out that bit about the Slideover window needing to be hidden. (Will be interesting to see if any of this is still with us in iOS 16)
