That’s normal with a lot of brands. You can trim off the excessive threads that’s not needed

Why are some numbered sizing and some sized as S,M,L,XL

I seen that as well. Taking a guess on why? Probably just when the pants were made? On the DDust color I see more in US sizing such as XS-XXL & MPearl using more numbers 44-56 etc … in all that’s just how stuff is in production. Happens often when items are made in different places or locations

I feel like they're baggy regardless of size, so in a way a small would be just right. Keep in mind sizing up will make them a lot longer. if you don't mind the length get a M/48. Hope this helps
