WOW! $106 for just the carrier (which showed as out of stock in both colors today BTW), and $159 for the canteen/cup unit! Quality stuff I'm sure, but not for the person with a mortgage & kids!

$150 for a titanium canteen + cook kit seems pretty standard. Anything made of titanium is gonna cost you a fair dime. I'm sure that the carry bag is bomb-proof although there are cheaper options out there, and even some USGI surplus ones made of the same OCP camo material that don't cost much, albeit I can't speak to how they match up for features. Honestly I was surprised to learn that the army still issues canteens at all.
@cagneybillingsley2165 Жыл бұрын
it's massively overpriced. military surplus canteen, nesting cup, pouch, and an ifak or general purpose pouch that can carry all of the other stuff and more costs around 35 to 40 dollars total and lasts just as long

100% awesome kit and Gear. You could fit any number of stoves in there. A few for example would be.. the Firebox Nano, the Emberlit Fireant, the Bushcraft Essentials Ultralight or The Bushcraft Essentials Busbox. I watched this video once and enjoyed it. Had to hit it up again. Take care man.

This would be a great kit to build for a light scout. I built my scout kit using a Maxpedition Water Bottle Carrier. The 12X5 worked out so well I'm building a second one. If I could afford this carrier (too many projects at the present time) it would definitely be used. Made in the USA is a big plus as well. Thanks for showing this.

I have an old school military canteen pouch but I don't use it for a canteen, I use it for a little kit, but besides putting the canteen in it, I can't do much else with it, like carry some small items. I really dig this kit and will probably have to upgrade! Thanks for sharing!

Nice piece of kit. I have the BUSHBOX ULTRALIGHT OUTDOOR POCKET STOVE. It's a multi-fuel burning stove that is very light and small. It would definitely fit in that back pocket. The stove retails for around $45, but it is well worth the money for the space you can save and the weight too. If you can get one and do a video on it, that would be way cool. Thanks for the review.

My favorite daily carry setup for summer, incredibly versatile, especially when you want to just pull over and check a spot out on the way home or something like that. It’s expensive, we all know that, but it is quality gear that will last decades, at least, the canteen will be heirloom material.

Just got mine today and love it. The Emberlit fire ant in titanium fits perfect in the back pocket and i put my lid on the bottom under the cup. this was exactly what i had been looking for as well.
@jastrapper1904 ай бұрын
Love it. The front of that pouch would be great for, to steal the concept from our friends from the United Kingdom, a “brew kit”. Coffee, creamer, sugar, hot cocoa, tea, bullion cubes, soup packets… enough volume there for a day or two of basic ingredients that require water and boiling. Coupled with some Kevlar cordage (since it is flame resistant) and a metal piece from a binder clip for spreading into the canteen mouth for hanging over a fire. Cup. Some water purification tabs. Matches in a safe. You have everything contained in one bundle. You could probably even fit a Esbit stove or some other flat pack stove and fuel.
@bensatterfield3677 жыл бұрын
you can get an old USGI canteen cup stove slids over the canteen cup, hard to find now a days but they are great use can use wood or fuel tabs or both, i have made many cups of field coffee that way

two suggestions for stoves: 1 The Canteen Shop has one which will fit the standard GI canteen cup...and the Ti one from heavy Cover(which I have as well). 2. The Ti folding firebox Nano Stove might fit the pocket you had your lid in, then you could put the lid in the bottom of the bag with a bandanna between the lid and the canteen cup. It might fit in the front pocket as well.

@grantglenndale1528 жыл бұрын
It's a nice carrier, BUT, at $110 just for the "Mother" is just not where I need to be for web gear. I find the large 2 quart canteen carrier fits a Pathfinder canteen, cup, stove and lid as well as some basic 5 C's kit items. $160 for a Ti canteen also seems over the edge as Ti does not react well with direct fire like SS does. Like I said, nice gear, just too over budget for me for what it offers.
@BlackScoutSurvival8 жыл бұрын
+Grant Glenndale for Survival Ti would have some benefits. Heats faster and will produce a boil quicker especially In climates where there aren't that many resources. Like tons of wood or wet wood. Will not freeze and crack like stainless. Doesn't weigh as much. But either will do the job
@EverettVinzant8 жыл бұрын
Grant Glenndale I'm curious. What do you mean by "Ti does not react well with direct fire?" Do you know that the skin of the Blackbird was made out of Ti because there was no steel that could handle the temperatures?
@grantglenndale1528 жыл бұрын
Everett Vinzant 1. The Ti in a SR71 was very special Ti, it was a single cell structure. It was needed not just for temp but for the stresses of pressurization and de-compression. The SR71 was built loose at the seams so expansion would seal all the seams at high alt - high speeds. When on the ground, the seams loosened up and it leaked fuel like a screen door Upon landing, you could not get around the SR71 because of the heat for close to 3 hours. 2. The Ti in the canteen is multi-cell lower quality Ti and WILL after extended use, rip apart, usually at the worse moment. Ti is ok, just not suited for cooking equipment that is in direct contact with camp fires. They do ok on alcohol, butane and propane stoves though.
@kpw5289 жыл бұрын
Why is it so expensive?! At first, upon going to the website via the link in the description, I thought it came with everything in the picture(s) on the site, and the price would make sense then. After seeing this video, I know that it doesn't, and the price point is pretty ridiculous. I know it's made in the USA, but it's just a Cordura canteen pouch. At most I think the price should be around $50.

MCC + strap wrap costed me as much as canteen itself, but definitely worth it. A great piece of gear. Probably the best canteen carrier I've seen so far. Has a room for improvements though. Also four months is a very long time, so think twice about that color or any other options you want, cause you gonna wait 4 more in case for some reason you gonna need to order another one.

I like the Pathfinder kit better in about a dozen ways, including the fact that I can carry both a wood burning stove, and an alcohol stove, inside the kit. Having used the Pathfinder kits, both canteen and bottle, there's just nothing here that would begin to make me want this. To me, at least, both Pathfinder kits have a huge number of advantages over this kit.

I don't really understand why everyone on here needs to post a comment about how cool this piece of gear is, but how it's not worth $100... If you don't want to buy it, then don't buy it, but don't try and sway other people away from purchasing it. I can speak from experience, that this is by far one of the coolest pieces of gear I have. And I not only use it in the woods as a minimalist day hiking kit, but also as part of my EDC kit. I can also speak from experience when I say that this is ridiculously better then the cheap Condor bottle holder that comes with the Pathfinder bottle kit. I destroyed that thing after one hunting season and a week-long backpacking trip.
@theaveragewoodsman60027 жыл бұрын
How is this canteen cover relevant to a backpack? Also, if you have a ton of packs (as I do) this is something different and unique in and of itself.

At $110 um no, I bought a whole military surplus kit with a canteen cover/dump pouch, 1 qt canteen, cup, cup stove, and the cup lid. All for $30 I find it a much better deal and I can customize it to whatever I need it for and I won't be afraid to use it as I would for this kit that's a total of $200. Just my 2 cents

I have been looking for a canteen carrier like this for a long time.....but the price is higher than I can personally justify.
@westoftherockies7 жыл бұрын
the problem is that its too small, i would just prefer a small backpack, then have my canteen/cup/ fancy cover, cause thats not enough carry space for when i go hiking, i like to carry a lot more stuff, medical kit, snacks, plenty of water, extra socks, knife, flashlight, etc, so its cool but a small rucksack is my preference, it holds more and is still light.
@99Racker5 жыл бұрын
Years ago, I added clip on strap to a GI canteen pouch so I could throw it over a shoulder. I then added a GI canteen cup to a non GI thermos canteen. Great to take out with hot coffee or tea. I make this point to illustrate that mission dictates equipment, not gear. I have also built a old GI SS canteen and cup, then made a cup top and added a spork, fire kit, and some water pure tabs to a newer model canteen pouch for normal use with any kit (as an addition to a Camelback). BSS, in your front pouch, I did not see the smaller Sawyer water filter and squeeze pouch (disclosure: don't recall when they came out to apply to the video. If so, this would be a fine water system suggestion). I like your videos and subject matter. Thanks. Semper fi

I can buy a med Alice pack and frame completely rigged for 49.00 us dollars then buy a Pathfinder kit to Mollie on the side and add a fire kit and wool blanket for a total of just under 200 dollars. That's just way to expensive for what it is. If you have money to burn it looks like it will work.

The only thing i would replace is the chem-light with a krill light . I’ve recently converted a USB carcharger (or whatever it’s called) to be directly connected to the carbattery . So even after an EMP i should be able to recharge my batteries . And yes i have a faraday cage for my electronic “must” haves , like my red cross cellphone just in case part of a network survived . 3,4 or 5G would be out but a basic network might still function plus my phone runs AA batteries . And my waka-waka solar light/charger is holding up pretty good so i have two spares . BTW those Jordan blade you love so much come from my old home- town .
