I don't think I've heard the voice from the AI anywhere else in the game, not that I can think of, anyway. Given that his obsession increases after the death of his wife, is it possible that he had her voice applied to the AI? Especially given his behavior pattern of using people around him as he does, it would make sense. Especially as it would mean that along with profiting from every time the machine came up, he'd also hear his wife's voice.

I've done Hornwright Industrial like 6 or 7 times (rerolled a few character slots). I kinda get chills every time at "MOTHERLODE! ...remembers...". Motherlode being a very basic AI that is heavily controlled by it's programming, but deep down still has some sort of sentience and consciousness is very powerful some how. The whole scene where it surfaces, going from very automaton, almost run down, to hopeful when you fire off the repair drone to triumphant really kind of just felt amazing.

I think the idea behind the laser grid is that, for security reasons, it's possible someone who isn't an Exec could get in the lift (like the receptionist accompanying a guest to the CEO's office, or that HR lady following Penny Hornwright up to then take a load of files back down. So the grids there to make sure if someone did accompany an exec into the lift they can't get too far.

The motherlode might even be somewhat sentient hence it telling you it remembers what you did for it & also if you keep interacting with the external connection device in the office it eventually calls out to Daniel by name. I think he was trying to bring back a piece of his wife or a substitute for her given how obsessed he was with the project & probably had some kind of special relationship with the machine.

I think the most hilarious part about Hornwrights attempts to sabotage the Garrahan's is that in the end, The excavators Proved more reliable than the autominers simply because they Didn't need constant electric Power, only fusion. While we haven't seen one of the Hornwrights precious Auto-Miners. Summary:The Garrahan's are definitely laughing in heaven that they ended up winning over their rivals in the end.

@@umad42 I love the Storyteller series, it's really well done, but I feel like if you just want pure lore in as much detail as possible, and without any additional dressing, then Ox's videos reign supreme. He investigates every nook and cranny, and even narrates environmental storytelling. Whereas the Storyteller series has its own story arc, with its own characters, and he simply inserts bits of actual Fallout lore within his own story. You really have to be in a mood for it. But regardless, anyone who calls themselves a real Fallout fan must watch Storyteller, it's still really good.

I don't think Robert House wanted to preserve the entire US. House's defense grid was meant to protect only Vegas, which it almost managed to except for a few stray nukes like the one that hit Black Mountain. From there, he would have rolled out his Securitrons Mk. II and problably founded and authoritarian regime all over the West Coast.
