Of all the Enterprises, the one in the first three movies will always be my favorite, inside and out. If Star Trek were real, the starship I would want to live and serve on would be a Constitution refit. Great job on this video.

Donny Versiga expertly recreated all of these sets in stunning detail, even down to the textures, exactly as they appeared in the original movies. You can find them in his fan art threads on Trek BBS and Artstation. 🖖😎👍

The worst part of Paramount's eventual fate is that all the institutional knowledge that existed on the Paramount lot for producing Star Trek for almost 25 years has been basically lost. NuTrek is so much different because nothing was retained from the original productions.

The corridor radius is slightly smaller than the TOS version which, coupled with the angled wall panels, gave the ship a more cramped feeling IMO

I met a guy at an art-and-wine festival, who was selling a couple pens turned from the wood of the original Tardis. If someone were selling such a thing turned from wood salvaged from the original set (even if epoxy-filled to stabilize the wood) I'd certainly buy one.

I also enjoyed the video, but you really need to post an extended version to highlight your 3D modeling work better. You should include a complete corridor walkthru of the entire set at eye-level, as well showing the forced perspective extension of the impossible corridor and both axis of forced perspective in the engineering room (both vertical pit & horizontal intermix tubes) including how they appeared if not viewed from the properly aligned camera angle. As well as the personal elevator that moved between all three levels of engineering. Would also be cool if you could add the structure of the stage scaffolding around the set, but that would be very hard to do as there are so few reference photos available.

man the history in those sets...be incredible to have walked around the bridge with all the lights & screens working..wouldn't want to leave. so how come it's 2024 and we don't have starships yet. personally I believe we do have advanced space vehicles but they're kept secret because it would be awkward to explain where we got the technology from. I've always thoughs shows like StarGate & movies like Close Encounters are more like documentaries than fiction..a subtle way of showing how we got the technology without truly revealing anything. humans have a desire to explore but it's 2024 and we still can't even go into space for sightseeing trips let alone make it out as far as Jupiter or Saturn (like in TMP) I can see these worlds & their moons with my relatively basic telescope yet it's unlikely in the 20 odd years of life I have left that we can actually travel there.. where did our exciting Star Trek future disappear to...😳

Honestly it was a shame that these sets were not preserved. I know parts were and recycled through out Trek history. I just meant it's sad that all the sets weren't saved to be displayed in a huge museum or something.
@Skybaby795 ай бұрын
It's long since been alleged that the reason why they were eventually torn down rather than auctioned off is because the wood used to construct them were beginning to rot. Which means not only were they destroyed, but when they were up they weren't well cared for. Very very sad.

You sure about the well for the intermix chamber? I was under the impression they just laid mirrors on't floor...
@donaldaehl70855 ай бұрын
There weren’t mirrors on the floor, instead there was a forced perspective translight painting that was laid at the bottom of a 1-story “pit” in the stage. So the engineering set actually had two axis of forced perspective (horizontal and vertical).

@@Teh_Goat I think it was the Battle Bridge in TNG which was Original Series film's Enterprise bridge set redressed.
@iana67135 ай бұрын
@@daviniarobbins9298 Portions of it, yes. As far as I understand, after the photography work had been finished on ST:III, which included bits of the set being blown up, the remaining set parts were stored badly and deteriorated meaning only some were usable. Hence only a partial Bridge was seen at the end of The Voyage Home as the command centre of the new Enterprise-A, and these bits were indeed reused as the Enterprise-D Battle Bridge.
