Heh, Harlaus and I have such a good rivalry right now. I started out with the Nords, and Swadia declared war on the Nords after about two weeks of the game starting. I took a caravan mission from one of the Nords' main cities to Praven and Harlaus went outside and hunted me down as soon as I escorted the caravan. He catches up with me and we lead our troops into battle. I destroy his troops and capture Harlaus. Soon after that happened, Swadia offered me 9900 denars for him. I let him go for the vast amount of wealth. A couple days later I head for the tournament in Praven and noticed Harlaus was competing too. I put a bet on myself and competed in the tournament and destroyed Harlaus at his own game without him even knowing. Man, I love this game.

I always play as rhodoks but without the high ground rhodoks suck. But give them a hill or a castle... Have fun with that.especially almera castle right next to the sarranid sultinate. That castle can be more than easily defended with 1/5 the troops of the attackers. It has a bullshit design

I remember the horror. I besieged a castle occupied by rhodok crossbows. My Swadian Knights could surely break through. But no, we were picked off, one by one. shields crackling under the weight of hundreds of bolts. My good, war-hardened men fell all around me. only around 20% made it up the wall. I was struck by a volley and collapsed, taken prisoner for months until the war ended. big oof

40 rhodok sharpshooters and 10 seargents could hold a castle vs 200 enemies. the swadian seargents and sharpshooters are fine but they are a bit weaker than the rhodok version, the biggest difference is that swadian seargents have a 2 handed sword instead of a mace and sheild. with no sheild they are alot weaker.

I have an idea when doing veagirs experience, go raid a village with low amount of troops (3-6) and the villagers will attack you. When they charge you with rocks just play the USSR anthem, it looks so glorius. "The fight of the workers for freedom"

I remember when I first saw how strong Rhodok's were on defense. I had just taken my first castle by myself, and was feeling pretty good. Left a small garrison and left. Almost immediately it was besieged. So I ride back and find about 300-400 men. Including the garrison, I have about 100. "Fuck it." I decide. I go and join the defenders. If I'm losing it, I'm taking some bastards with me. It also my first siege defense, and I had heard Rhodoks were good defenders. We slaughtered then. I don't remember our loses, but it wasn't all that many. Cut to a bit later, and my elite force has grown by about 20 men, but most of them are maxed quality. I want a town, and knowing how easily I've been taken castles, I thought a town would be doable. So we ride up to a Sarranid town in Khergit land that has a bunch of Rhodok troops guarding it, including sharpshooters. I didn't realise this until the battle started. This time, we were slaughtered. All my men, veteran troops, lay dead at the bottom of a ladder.

My first time playing Warband, with no prior experience to the game other than a few videos, I decided to join the Rhodoks. We wiped the Swadians from the map in my first month, then proceeded to move onto the Nords. Lost that savegame a long while back, but still remember it fondly.

And you are right. Anyone who plays at full damage can tell. Simo claims that it only affects friendly fire, and that is bullshit. With reduced damage, armor makes you nigh invulnerable. That's a big part of what makes this video work. Also, just because I can make a video where someone equipped as a Khergit lancer takes out ten Swadian knights on the battlefield, and I can, does not mean that lancers are the best heavy cavalry.

But I remember my army of rhodok sharpshooters and nord huscarls being this effective. The trick I found to keeping the infantry alive was holding them back in sieges and letting the crossbowmen devastate everyone visible on the walls. In melee, an elite army of just huscarls loses almost nobody, particularly with a good enough surgery skill. But it's been a while since I played so maybe I'm remembering it wrong. But I don't recall getting more than 2-3 dead soldiers in a siege involving not more than a couple hundred defenders, if I stuck to the strats.

Yes, I am sure. You can see it in your videos. Less in this one, where everything is absorbed, as reduced damage simply cannot go through your very good armor... which makes knights, sergeants, sharpshooters, etc. stupid good. But look at the Slaver Experience video. You have no helmet, and a few times, you take a downward slash into your head. You take only 11-14 damage, due to reduced damage. By the way, let me also say that I enjoy your videos anyway. You have a sense of humor, which makes them very entertaining.
